Sky Sports: New signing now ‘on hold’ but another deal imminent as player passes medical

Newcastle United look set to announce yet another signing today following the £20m arrival of Callum Wilson.

As reported by Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Ryan Fraser has now passed his medical on Tyneside and could even be announced as a Newcastle player later today.

On the flip side, it sounds like a loan move for Arsenal’s Rob Holding is now ‘on hold’, with Downie revealing that the Gunners are weighing up whether or not to bring in a replacement before they allow him to leave.

Here’s update on both from Sky Sports’ North-East correspondent:

In all honesty, we are in no major rush for another centre-back while we still have Schar and Lejeune on our books

The Swiss star isn’t yet fit and the Frenchman appears to be way down the pecking order, but we too may have to move one of the two on before Holding is able to arrive on loan?

As for Fraser, he promises to be a brilliant signing on a free and someone who could combine well with Wilson if their stunning form across 2018/19 is anything to go by.

  1. Schar not that interested any more,
    lejune injury prone
Both of these need to be moved on and if we can get a repalcement all the better.

schar in particular his goals have bought him a lot of fans, but his defending has been letting him down for a while.

  2. I see there are still doubters on about buying players from relegated clubs, well I’m sorry they are better than what we have, i think they are both good players and will do well at the toon. We wouldn’t be in this mess if so called MR.ASHLEY would of backed this club when he took over it, i remember him saying i will take this club to the next level and win silverware, two relegations later and we are still going no where, anyway lets hope there are a few more signings before the 12th. Toon toon, HWTL
