Alan Shearer hits nail on the head when asked why Newcastle fans are so fed up – Video

Alan Shearer has once again hit the nail on the head concerning Newcastle on Match of the Day. This time, he’s delivered some harsh words for those that criticise the ambition of NUFC fans.

The comments came in the wake of Newcastle’s defeat to Manchester City, where Steve Bruce’s side seemed content with accepting defeat from the first whistle. There was a real lack of attacking intent throughout and when the first goal went in, we all knew that the game was as good as over.

Steve Bruce labelled the complaints of Newcastle fans as ‘ridiculous histrionics’ and emphasised that his remit was only to keep us in the Premier League.

Luckily, Alan Shearer used his platform to speak out – telling all that we Newcastle fans are not content with just ‘existing’, name checking the likes of Southampton, Aston Villa and Everton as ambitious clubs we’d like to be competing with:

‘The fans just want a little bit of ambition.

“The don’t want a club that just exists.

“The look at Villa, who have ambition.

“Everton have ambition. Southampton have ambition.

“They don’t have that with Newcastle.”

Those words from Shearer are so important. During the Benitez era, we were happy because we had a team with spirit, fight and passion. Now, we look like a rabbit in the headlights whenever we face adversity.

We don’t demand a team that wins, we demand a team that tries. At least Shearer knows that.
