According to the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in signing Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson.
He’s believed to be frustrated at Old Trafford and keen to secure a January loan move away after struggling for game time all season.
The 24-year-old has played just once for the Red Devils this term, losing his place to David De Gea ever since he missed a large chunk of pre-season after struggling to overcome a bad bout of Covid.
Henderson was forced to pull out of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad with a hip injury back in June, however fitness issues, long Covid and a lack of game time has seen him miss out of the last three England squads.
The report states that the former Sheffield United star would prefer to stay at Manchester United, but will push for a move in the new year if his first-team opportunities do not improve between now and then.
From our point of view, do we really need another goalkeeper?
We have Martin Dubravka fit again, Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman and even fourth choice Mark Gillespie in our 25-man squad as things stand.
Who knows, perhaps Howe wants someone who is better with the ball at his feet, but a goalie seems like the last thing we need when the transfer window reopens.
Apparently not.
Howe has said that he hasn’t discussed any transfers or made any requests at all.
So all articles about transfers in the papers and blogs has all been made up.
Who’d have guessed that 😆
