£17m deal offered to NUFC as Carlos alternative – Player represented by same agency as Joelinton – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Fenerbahce star Attila Szalai.

Sky Sports claimed that we were showing interest in the highly-rated Hungarian earlier this month, and it seems we’ve been handed the chance to sign him as Sevilla continue to play hardball over Diego Carlos.

Lee Ryder reports that he is available for around £17m, also revealing that the 6ft 4′ centre-back is represented by ROGON – the same agency who look after Joelinton and a group Steve Nickson is said to know well following our £40m move for the Brazilian a few years ago.

Szalai has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent months and is a tall, left-footed defender who impressed during Euro 2020.

He is also confident in possession and possesses a decent turn of pace for a player of his size, meaning he could fit the bill for Eddie Howe; especially when his best years may be ahead of him at the age of 24.
