Hendrick set for QPR, but Clark & Lewis could be axed by Howe after rejecting offers – Report

The Mail’s Craig Hope has revealed that Jeff Hendrick looks set to seal a late move to QPR tonight.

However, he claims that Ciaran Clark and Jamal Lewis have turned down offers from Middlesbrough and Birmingham, respectively, ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline, with the latter made available on loan after Matt Targett’s arrival.

What’s more, Hope reports that both knew prior to these unnamed offers that they weren’t going to be included in Eddie Howe’s 25-man squad for the second half of the season.

This has made some question their decision to reject potential moves away. That said, they are contracted to the club, may be settled in the area and could have been asked to take a pay-cut to leave for the Championship.

What I find more bizarre is that Howe would axe Lewis from his 25-man squad, especially when the likes of Matt Ritchie and Emil Krafth may get in ahead of the man we paid £15m to sign from Norwich.

As for Hendrick, it had looked as thought he’d join Middlesbrough earlier today, but it seems the Irishman is now closing in on a move to QPR.

Here’s what North-East reporter Craig Hope has had to say about the Toon trio in the last few moments:
