Spotted at St James’ Park – New owners make the first of many changes as fans’ photos emerge

‘Shearer’s’ bar is finally back at Newcastle United.

It’s not ‘official’ just yet, but several fans walking past St James’ Park have shared pictures on social media of the name change, with the ‘NINE bar’ sign now replaced with ‘Shearer’s’ by workman today.

This is something co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi hinted at during their in-depth interview with The Athletic last month and looks set to be the first of many more changes set to take place in and around St James’ Park.

Not only are talks underway with the council to increase the capacity, both have also revealed that the Alan Shearer statue will be moved onto stadium ground – potentially alongside the great Sir Bobby Robson.

For now though, it looks like the new owners have scored their first open goal by renaming the ‘NINE bar’ back to ‘Shearer’s’, with the following photos emerging on Twitter from passers-by today:
