8-man shortlist revealed as Newcastle United prepare to hold recruitment meeting – Report

Newcastle United are set to hold a recruitment meeting ‘next week’ to discuss who Eddie Howe would like to bring in this summer.

This comes from The Mail, who have named EIGHT players they expect to feature in that meetings, revealing four goalkeepers, a couple of midfielders and two attackers who have been shortlisted so far.

Chelsea stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga is said to be under consideration and a potential loan option, while a move for Dean Henderson could be revisited after we showed January interest in the Man Utd man.

Back-up options to those are believed to be Arsenal’s Bernd Leno and West Brom’s Sam Johnstone, with the latter likely to be in demand as he prepares to leave the Baggies on a free this summer.

The Mail insist that Martin Dubravka still has a future on Tyneside, but Howe is keen to bring in superior competition for the Slovakian – suggesting Karl Darlow is likely to be moved on.

Elsewhere, the same piece reveals that Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips, Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson and Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby will also be discussed in next week’s recruitment meeting.
