90min journalist Graeme Bailey believes Nathan Ake to Newcastle United is one to watch this summer.
Speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, the former Sky Sports reporter claims the Dutch defender is a player Newcastle “will be in for” – especially if our pursuit of Sven Botman continues to stall.
The 27-year-old is expected to be made available by Man City – who are looking to fund a move for Brighton’s Marc Cucurella – and Bailey believes he’s someone Eddie Howe “loves” from their time together at Bournemouth.
He reports that Ake is attracting plenty of interest from clubs around Europe, but expects him to leave the Etihad this summer and backs Newcastle to make a move – providing the price is right.
Here’s what he had to say, also predicting FOUR more signings will arrive following the addition of Nick Pope:
“I think centre-half wise, keep an eye on Nathan Ake.
“Eddie Howe loves this player. He signed him at Bournemouth.
“We know he’s going to become available, as City are trying to bring in Cucurella.
“So Ake will be available, but there’s a lot of teams that like him around Europe.
“But I think Newcastle will be in for him. They won’t go over the top for him, but I’d keen an eye on him.
“I think we can expect Newcastle to bring in another four players.”
