According to fresh reports arriving from France, Newcastle have joined the race to sign Sochaux talent Alan Virginius.
French outlet Le10Sport claim that we are ‘very interested’ in bringing the 19-year-old forward to St James’ Park, however we’ll face competition from clubs in Germany and Belgium.
The ‘exclusive’ states that Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge and Anderlecht are also keen on the versatile attacker, who is able to play up top or down either flank.
Le10Sport claim that the Ligue 2 side are prepared to sell the France U19 international for a fee in the region of ‘€7-10m’, with Anderlecht believed to be the first club to submit an offer so far.
Virginius recently broke into the Sochaux first team and bagged five goals and two assists last season – an impressive contribution considering he only started in seven of his 31 appearances.
It’s another name to watch out for, with the club appearing to be in the market for several highly-rated teenagers since Dan Ashworth’s arrival.
A coincidence? I doubt it! Here’s a few clips of the winger in action:
We buy Joshua Zirkzee from Anderlect they buy Virginius.

It’s just nice being linked with upcoming talent. Ashworths next task is to offload the deadwood to free up squad spaces for new players and to allow youngsters opportunity to progress in the squad.
