According to The Athletic, Newcastle United’s recruitment team have been showing interest in Alexander Isak and Musa Barrow.
This isn’t the first time we’ve been linked with a move for Isak – the 6ft 4′ Swede currently at Real Sociedad – as we step up our search for a new striker.
Chris Waugh reports that he’s someone chief scout Steve Nickson has ‘followed for years’, revealing that the 22-year-old has been discussed in transfer meetings held on Tyneside this summer.
However, as things stand, it seems he is another player who could be priced out of a move to St James’ Park, with Real Sociedad demanding big money – a problem we’ve also encountered after showing interest in Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Elsewhere, The Athletic also report that Bologna striker Musa Barrow is another forward we’ve watching.
It’s believed he could be a far cheaper alternative, but appears to be an option we may only pursue if we fail to land our top targets in attack.
The 23-year-old Gambian international can play up top or down the left-hand side and has been involved in 44 goals (24 goals and 20 assists) in 93 appearances for the Serie A side.
