Newcastle contact Chelsea over 4 deals as Toon look to land ‘big six’ loans – The Athletic

According to The Athletic, Newcastle United have asked Chelsea to keep them informed about the availability of FOUR players.

This includes Connor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja, with the report stating that we have also been in contact with other ‘big six’ clubs about potential loan deals.

It’s believed Broja has indicated that he’d only sign at St James’ Park on a temporary basis if he was ‘guaranteed game time’, however Eddie Howe is reluctant to hand out promises to any incoming player – let alone one who’d be competing with number nine Callum Wilson.

Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic are intriguing options. Both have pace to burn and could add quality out wide, although it’s not yet clear if the latter will be made available.

Gallagher enjoyed a superb loan spell at Crystal Palace last season and could fit brilliantly into Eddie Howe’s high-energy side who are now looking to press from the off, but as a boyhood Blue who is bidding to impress Thomas Tuchel, he may stay and fight for his place.

However, with Jonjo Shelvey set to be missing until after the World Cup, the midfielder could see regular game time on Tyneside as the perfect route to Gareth Southgate’s squad for Qatar? After all, he may be snubbed if he spends the next few months sitting on the bench at Stamford Bridge.

Hakim Ziyech isn’t mentioned by The Athletic, but as a quality attacker who appears to be available, he may be another we consider to add quality to our right-hand side.

So, plenty of options should any of the above become available, however it is worth noting that we could only bring in ONE on loan from the same Premier League club.
