Alexander Isak suffers injury scare ahead of next Saturday’s trip to Fulham – The Athletic

Some concerning news has emerged on Alexander Isak this afternoon, with our club record signing forced to train alone after linking up with the Swedish national side this week.

The Athletic report that the 23-year-old hasn’t trained with the main group after what the Swedish FA have described as a “little feeling” in an unspecified muscle.

He’s not yet been ruled out of upcoming games against Serbia on Saturday and Slovenia next Tuesday, but this ‘unconfirmed niggle’ is the last thing Eddie Howe wanted to read just a few days into the international break.

Our club record signing has scored twice in his opening three games since completing a £60m move from Real Sociedad last month, scoring from the spot in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.

It sounds more of a scare than a confirmed issue that will sideline him for any length of time, but we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed it’s nothing serious – and not something that flares up should he play in Sweden’s upcoming games over the next week.

With Allan Saint-Maximin battling to be fit for Fulham next Saturday and Callum Wilson pushing to return following a hamstring injury of his own, we can’t afford any new injury setbacks.
