Simon Jordan hits nail on the head when asked big Newcastle United question – Video

We’ve disagreed with a lot of what Simon Jordan has said over the years, but he’s got it spot on in his latest take on Newcastle United.

Asked if the club are “flattering to deceive” under Eddie Howe and the new owners, he insists that we are building well, “going through the gears” and playing better than our points tally suggests.

Jordan believes that those expecting an immediate push towards the top six have set unrealistic and unhelpful expectations, feeling we must be patient and enjoy our steady rise towards success as we build the foundations of a football club that are looking to compete in the coming years.

He believes certain results – like Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth – have highlighted how much we rely on the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin, but feels that will only increase our desire to build a more “balanced” squad.

As for performances, he believes fans must take heart from how we competed with the likes of Liverpool and Man City, refusing to criticise a start that’s featured only one win from our opening seven games when he’s seen several signs of encouragement from a side that are “going in the right direction” on several fronts.
