Toon attacker bags two assists in crucial UEFA Nations League win on Wednesday night – Video

Newcastle United’s Ryan Fraser played a key role in Scotland’s 3-0 win over Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League last night.

Following his first call-up in almost a year, the winger made a huge impact from the bench during the final 14 minutes of the match at Hampden Park, delivering two late assists as Lyndon Dykes headed home his crosses not once but twice.

Steve Clarke’s side actually leapfrogged the visitors to take the lead in Group E following their crucial win on Wednesday night. Remain top and Ryan Fraser’s Scotland guarantee a play-off spot for Euro 2024, with this also having the potential to boost their World Cup 2026 hopes.

Fraser may have done enough to start Scotland’s second Nations League match of the international break, which is a crunch clash with Ireland on Tuesday.

Either way, it’s good to see the Scot delivering the goods, especially if this can give him some confidence ahead of his return to Tyneside next week. Watch both assists below:

  1. Those of us with a sense of loyalty find it strange that Ryan Fraser ran down his contract at Bournemouth to negotiate a more substantial signing on fee and refused to play when his club and teammates needed him most to ensure injury did not jeopardise his next lucrative transfer. Newcastle United may wish to beware Mystic Meg’s prediction that this leopard does not change its spots and what goes round comes round.
