According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United have submitted an offer worth €16m for Flamengo midfielder Matheus Franca.
The 18-year-old is a Brazil U20 international and is also attracting interest from Lyon, with La Liga giants Real Madrid recently sending scouts to watch the teenager.
The versatile South American play both as a number 10 and number 9 – even sometimes on the left flank – and is considered Flamengo’s next big thing following the club’s development of Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior.
We brought you an exclusive on Newcastle interest in the Serie A star last month, with Jacque Talbot revealing that the attacking midfielder has been on our radar for some time.
Newcastle’s search for top young talent has been clear since Dan Ashworth’s arrival, as Franca is one of several young stars who’ve been linked with a move to Tyneside in recent months.
Here’s what Romano revealed to his 13.5million followers just moments ago, confirming we’ve come forward with a ‘new proposal’ for the highly-rated Brazilian:
Its good to look for younger prospects, but we still need cover for our midfield or lack of due to injuries.
Good luck to Wood he has been a good buy, doing what we needed from him to stave off relegation, if we get 15m at the end of his loan it will be a decent recovery of our initial outlay. HWTL
