Early team news from Eddie Howe – Two facing late fitness tests & trio out of Arsenal clash

Speaking to the press this morning, Eddie Howe has issued an update on the injury front ahead of Sunday’s clash with Arsenal.

He’s confirmed that Allan Saint-Maximin is back in training and has “trained very well” – great news after the Frenchman has missed our last five games with a hamstring injury.

Howe will make a late decision on him this weekend and the same is true for Sean Longstaff; who is ‘OK’ but yet to train this week. As a result, he’s another ‘wait and see’, with his involvement dependant on how he comes through training over the next 24 hours.

Jamaal Lascelles has been ruled out for the season with a calf injury, while Emil Krafth (ACL) and Ryan Fraser (training with the U21s) won’t feature once again.

Here’s what Howe’s had to say on Longstaff, ASM and any other injury niggles ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Gunners:

Eddie Howe on Sean Longstaff

“Sean is OK. He’s improved but he hasn’t trained yet. We’re hoping either today or tomorrow he will but we’ll wait and see.”

Eddie Howe on Allan Saint-Maximin

“Allan has trained. He trained yesterday and it was great to see him back on the grass. He trained very well too so I’m really pleased with that.

“We’ll wait and see (for Sunday). We’ll make a decision whether we’ll involve him.

Howe on any other injuries

“We’ve ha a couple of niggles this week, but hopefully nothing major that will impact the team.”
