Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Yankuba Minteh.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old winger looks set to sign at St James’ Park for €7m (£6m), providing he receives a work permit.
The Gambian talent currently plays in the Danish top flight with Odense, where he’s bagged four goals and six assists Iin 17 senior appearances for the Superligaen side.
His medical is set to take place ‘soon’, becoming our first signing of the summer and the latest talent to arrive in Dan Ashworth’s search for exciting young prospects.
Speaking about our interest back in April, the winger had this to say:
“You should probably take that with my agent. I don’t know anything about it.
“I am ready to take the next step, and it will only be good for me.
“Of course, I want to go to Newcastle. It’s a big club in the Premier League and they’re doing something good. They are fighting for a place in the Champions League.”
