Liverpool now in talks to sign Newcastle United target – The Athletic

Liverpool are ‘exploring a move’ for Newcastle target and RB Leipzig attacker Dominik Szoboszlai, but it is ‘unclear’ how much they are willing to pay, according to The Athletic

The club are believed to have met with his camp this week, with the Reds pushing to bring another midfielder to Anfield following the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.

Despite their interest, it is understood that it would still be ‘very complicated’ to get a deal done. A €70m release clause exists in his contract which is due to expire on Saturday 30th June, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Either way, it’s a concern to see another ‘big six’ rival pursue another player we hold ‘long-standing interest’ in, especially when fellow target James Maddison looks set to seal a £40m move to Spurs.

Liverpool recently confirmed a loan move for Fabio Carvalho to the German club, but it is understood that this does not have any implications on a deal for Szoboszlai.

With Maddison set to join Spurs and Szoboszlai now on Liverpool’s radar, it makes you wonder if we have other options in mind or plan to make a move of our own for the highly-rated Hungarian.
