Sky Sports release new signing plans as Newcastle prepare to announce Sandro Tonali

As reported by Sky Sports, Sandro Tonali is set to travel to Tyneside once Italy’s Under-21 Euros tournament is over in order to finalise his move to Newcastle.

The total transfer fee will be ‘around £55m’, with Sky Sports insisting there is no truth in claims (from the Italian press) that the overall package will cost £69m. Newcastle consider this to be ‘excellent business’ for a player of his quality and have acted fast to seal a deal.

Sky report that the loose ends of the move, which were the final obstacles, have now been tied up and the AC Milan midfielder will soon be presented as a Newcastle United player.

Italy will face Norway today in their final group game and could face elimination from the tournament should they lose, meaning the deal could be wrapped up in the next few days.

Progression in the tournament will merely delay the announcement, but there looks to be no other complications that would prevent the imminent move from eventually taking place. Tonali will sign a six-year deal at St James’ Park, becoming our second summer signing after Gambian talent Yankuba Minteh.
