£30m target ‘prefers to join Newcastle’ despite interest from Chelsea – Report

According to The Mail, Southampton defender Tino Livramento would ‘prefer’ a move to Newcastle over a return to Chelsea despite their £40m buy-back clause.

Newcastle are believed to have made a number of offers for the right-back of around £15m-£20m, but the Saints are intent on rejecting any bids below £30m.

Chelsea’s recent interest in purchasing their former academy star has posed something of an obstacle for Eddie Howe, but it appears the 20-year-old has no interest in returning to Stamford Bridge.

Livramento is keen on playing regular Premier League football again, something he wasn’t guaranteed at Chelsea because of Reece James, and sees a clearer path to the first-team at Newcastle.

We still have a long way to go in terms of agreeing a fee with the recently relegated side, but the youngster is clearly keen on the move and could excel under the tutelage of Kieran Trippier.
