Former Arsenal talent set for Newcastle United deal after impressing Eddie Howe – Report

Former Arsenal youngster Shaun Mavididi is set to sign his first professional contract with Newcastle after impressing Eddie Howe during his two years on Tyneside, according to TEAMtalk.

The 17-year-old joined the Magpies back in the summer of 2021 on an initial scholarship deal and has been a regular for the Under-18s side since his arrival, earning himself a one-year pro deal.

Mavididi, who scored twice in 24 appearances in the U18 Premier League last season, is the brother of Stephy who currently plays for Montpellier in Ligue 1.

While Graeme Carrick – the younger brother of Michael Carrick – runs the Under-18 setup, Eddie Howe is known to keep a close eye on our Academy and has been impressed by the teenager’s performances.

Should he excel even further, the club will look to extend his stay in the North East and hopefully continue his progression through to the first team.
