Newcastle offered former Premier League loanee – Club want £11m for 12 month deal – Report

As reported by The Chronicle, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid; who are demanding an £11m loan fee for the attacker.

Felix spent the last six months on loan at Chelsea where he received mixed reviews for his performances. He was often exciting to watch and showed several glimpses of quality, but struggled to make a consistent impact in the final third.

The 23-year-old, who signed for Atletico for £113m four years ago, has returned to his parent club but has been banished from first-team training and is searching for a new club.

It’s believed that they would be willing to send him out on loan again in order to keep all parties happy, but are asking for a very steep loan fee.

We were linked with a move for the attacker last year and have been ‘alerted’ by his availability on loan, but their £11m demands are likely to be too much – along with his huge salary – as we search for new signings while working within FFP restrictions.

  1. Chelsea paid 10 million for 6 months so it might even be more that 11. Then there’s another 10 million for his salary, and all for someone who makes Alan St Maximin look prolific.

If we are serious about FFP I’m sure he’ll be filed under the “ten foot barge pole” category.
