Fabrizio Romano releases Moussa Diaby update as Toon target looks to join Premier League rivals

Toon target Moussa Diaby remains in discussions with Aston Villa over a potential move despite Bayer Leverkusen rejecting a €35m offer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The winger has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park over the past 12-18 months, but it looks like Unai Emery is pushing to sign the Frenchman at Villa Park.

While the fee has not yet been agreed between the two sides, the 24-year-old is believed to ‘want the move’ and has made the German club aware of that.

Villa have already secured the signing of Pau Torres from Villarreal and Youri Tielemans on a free transfer. It remains to be seen if they’ll strike a deal with Leverkusen, but their latest bid falls below the £30m mark and has left some Toon fans wondering if we’ll reignite our interest.

However, unless things change, it seems we have turned our attention to Leicester’s Harvey Barnes instead, with the Foxes winger in talks to sign for a fee in the region of £35m.
