Newcastle release first Harvey Barnes interview as new signing speaks to NUFC TV

In his first interview for the club, Harvey Barnes has revealed that he is ‘delighted’ to be joining Newcastle, that it was an ‘easy decision’ to join such a big club and is ‘excited’ to be a part of an attacking team.

The winger, who spent 15 years at Leicester, claimed that he just couldn’t turn down a move to ‘a club like Newcastle’ and knew from the outside looking in that this was a project that he wanted to be involved in.

Amidst the rumours that we were after him, the 25-year-old had a ‘gut feeling’ that this was the right move and he immediately wanted to get the opinions of the people around him.

Looking ahead, our new £38m man is ‘excited’ to be taking on such a big challenge at a new club but believes he will ‘fit in well’ with Howe’s intense style of play and aims to add goals and assists throughout the season.

On a personal level, Barnes is also hoping that his form on Tyneside will help to push him into the England team to add to his one cap that he earned back in 2020, but admitted that full focus remains on Newcastle.
