Newcastle set to launch take it or leave it bid for summer target – Report

According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle are prepared to make one last bid of around £30m for Southampton’s Valentino Livramento after having multiple bids rejected.

There was a belief that the two clubs were close to agreement, but the Saints appeared to have moved the goalposts at the last minute and are demanding £40m for the full-back, which has frustrated Newcastle.

It’s believed that the price was raised due to a hefty sell-on clause that Chelsea have on their former right-back. As a result, Southampton want to make sure that they still receiving a decent amount despite the clause.

Livramento is a very talented young player with bags of potential, but £40m would be a huge risk given that he is coming off the back of an ACL injury and rarely played last season.

Instead, we will return with a final offer of £30m and put the pressure on the Saints, as they could risk losing out on a significant fee for the 20-year-old.

  1. I went to buy a used car that was advertised online for just under 10 grand.
It had been online for a couple of weeks.
It was a nice car but I thought the price was a little steep.
The owner said I had to make my mind up quickly because he was leaving the country in 3 days.
“Why did you tell me that? Now I’m just going to wait 3 days then offer you half of what you want.”
“I won’t sell it for half”
“Well you’ve got my number – give me a ring if you change your mind.”
3 days later I got a call. “You can have it for 8k.”
“8k isn’t half of ten. The offer was for half”
    I got it for 4,900.
I appreciate it’s traditional to negotiate, but decide what you want to pay and say that’s it.
If they don’t take it, walk away, but let them know the offer is available for x number of days, at which time you move on and will not be coming back to the table.
Talksport claim the Saints want nearer 50m.
If we are offering 30 a deal can’t be done.

Absolutely agree, not worth £30m imo never mind £40m and I’m not sure right back is even a priority when we have Ashby who has looked decent in pre season.
