Elliot Anderson’s superb form over pre-season continued in the early hours of Saturday morning, as our local lad scored twice to seal a Summer Series win over Brighton.
The 20-year-old has already netted in pre-season games against Gateshead and Aston Villa, but made it four goals in four appearances with his late brace against the Seagulls.
His first saw his pressing pay dividends, forcing Brighton into an error before he finished emphatically, yet it was his second that stood out, as he latched onto Jacob Murphy’s through ball, showed strength to hold off his man and fired into the corner superbly.

It wasn’t the best of games and exposed our lack of squad depth at times. However, it was another great workout and moment of huge promise from our Geordie Maradona; our top scorer over pre-season and standout player this summer alongside Lewis Miley.
