Winger pictured at SJP as Dan Ashworth secures 4 hidden signings for Newcastle’s academy

Over the past few days, we’ve shared photos of Oldham’s Sam Alabi and Southend’s Kacey Wooster holding up a black and white shirt at St James’ Park.

Both have joined the club’s ever-improving academy – despite no official announcement as of yet – and they’ve been joined by two other teenage talents.

As revealed by the Secret Scout, talented winger Michael Mills has also completed a move to Newcastle from Port Vale and will join the club’s U16 squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Like Alabi and Wooster, he’s been pictured (see below) holding up his new Newcastle shirt at St James’ Park and will soon be joined by Wolves right-back Leo Shahar. Secret Scout report that he’s also due to sign on Tyneside, with the England U16 youth international set to be the latest academy arrival overseen by Dan Ashworth.

It’s great to see the club investing in youth talent, with all four given a great example of our newfound path to first-team level via Lewis Miley’s impressive rise over pre-season. Let’s hope all four settle on Tyneside and work their way up the academy ladder over the coming years.
