Some early team news has arrived ahead of today’s 3pm kick-off at St James’ Park, where Newcastle United take on Chelsea after two weeks away for the international break.
According to some information we’ve received ahead of the match, this is the side Eddie Howe has gone with:
(4-3-3): Pope – Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Livramento – Miley, Guimaraes, Joelinton – Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
Subs: : Dubravka, Karius, Gillespie, Dummett, A Murphy, Ritchie, Diallo, Ndiweni, Parkinson.
We’re told that Joe Willock is not fit enough to start, with Sean Longstaff also missing out, meaning Lewis Miley keeps his place after starting in that 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
Elsewhere, Alexander Isak returns to the side up top, with Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron out wide. Bruno and Joelinton will join Miley in midfield, with Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento at full-back.
As expected, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Elliot Anderson, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Matt Targett, Sandro Tonali and Javier Manquillo remain absent, with Lewis Hall ineligible against his parent club.
