Newcastle bidding to break 100-year record at St James’ Park vs Chelsea

Newcastle will be looking to win five consecutive home games to nil for the first time since 1907 ahead of today’s 3pm kick-off against Chelsea.

In our last four home games, we’ve beaten Arsenal, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brentford in the Premier League without conceding a single goal by a combined score of 8-0.

Nick Pope didn’t have a lot to do in those four fixtures, but he’ll face an on-the-up Chelsea side this afternoon, with Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues scoring eight in their last two league games.

Should we beat them to nil today, Nick Pope will etch his name into the club’s history. With that, he’d also move to six shutouts for the season; more than any other Premier League side.

It’ll be tough with the sheer number of injuries in the squad – we’ll be without all three left-backs and star centre-back Sven Botman – but let’s hope we can bounce back from the Bournemouth defeat.
