Howe drops new Hall hint after another no-show at Chelsea – Future becoming clearer?

Last week, Eddie Howe cast a flicker of doubt over Lewis Hall’s long-term future at Newcastle, as he was unable to confirm if a permanent deal would be triggered for the Chelsea loanee.

Despite being eligible to play in midweek, Tuesday night was the 15th time he’s been an unused substitute this season, with him also playing just six minutes at the end of last weekend’s 3-0 win over Fulham.

Speaking to the press today, Howe insisted the 19-year-old was signed with a view to the future, urging everyone to be ‘patient’ with the teenager, who is ‘developing certain areas of his game’ and still has a ‘big part to play’ despite his lack of game time.

Howe admits that the requirements of a permanent deal ‘haven’t quite been hit’ just yet, as the structure of the transfer is ‘slightly complicated’, but he insists the full-back is ‘definitely a part of our long-term plans’. Read his latest comments below:

“He has settled in fine and is working well. I just think we need to develop certain areas of his game. We have got no doubts about his qualities and what he can bring to the team, he is doing a lot of work behind the scenes.

“We are working with him daily and he was brought in with a view to the here and now obviously, to compete for places, but also the future.

“His transfer is slightly complicated in terms of structure and the requirements haven’t quite been hit (to make the deal permanent), but y message would be to be patient.

“He has got a big part to play and is definitely part of our long-term plans.”
