According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle were in contact with the family of Jobe Bellingham before he signed for Sunderland in the summer – and it seems our interest hasn’t gone away.
Bellingham has enjoyed an impressive first half of the season in the North East and is starting to look like a real promising talent in the second division, where he is following in the footsteps of his brother Jude.
The report states that we are one of a handful of Premier League clubs who are continuing to monitor the 18-year-old, who signed for the Black Cats for £1.5m.
For Bellingham, it’s believed a move to the Stadium of Light was deemed a better step in his career at the time, as he was offered regular first-team football. while at Newcastle he would have been placed into one of our youth sides.
However, it seems the club are still hopping to bring the 18-year-old to Tyneside in the near future when he will be looking to make the leap to Premier League football.
