Kieran Trippier has returned from holiday in New York to push through a deal with German giants Bayern Munich, according to MailSport’s Craig Hope.
Newcastle have rejected Bayern’s first approach and have reportedly told the Bavarians that Trippier is not for sale unless a bid is “too good to turn down”, Hope said.
Interest in Trippier came about on Friday as Bayern moved away from primary target Nordi Mukiele after failing to strike a deal with PSG for the French full back.
Talks between club chiefs and Bayern began on Saturday and are expected to continue after it was reported that Trippier gave a “green light” to the 2020 Champions League winners.
However, Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves has said that Trippier is “flattered” by interest from the German champions, but is “fully committed” to the Toon.
“[Trippier is] certainly not pushing for a move or anything” Graves posted on X.
The 33-year-old England international is contracted with the Toon until June 2025 and is reportedly our joint-second highest earner.
He was the first signing of the PIF era at St James’ Park after joining the club in January two years ago.
