Chelsea line up £18m move for Newcastle United star – Report

According to reports on Thursday morning, Chelsea are weighing up a surprise move for Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson.

This comes from Jacque Talbot at FootballTransfers, who reveals that the Blues are considering meeting Newcastle’s £18m asking price for the forward.

Mauricio Pochettino is thought to want a proven Premier League goalscorer to arrive either this month or over the summer, and Wilson appeals after notching 25 league goals over the past 18 months.

The 31-year-old has received interest from Atletico Madrid and AC Milan this month, but it seems Chelsea could make a late move. Nicolas Jackson has struggled for consistency since arriving over the summer, while fellow forward Christopher Nkunku has had ongoing fitness issues.

Speaking about his future this week on the BBC Footballer’s Football Podcast, he said: “It’s January, the window’s open and there’s always speculation around players, not just myself but with everybody else in the squad. I haven’t got much more to say than that.”

  1. Are Newcastle daft to sell to Chelsea?. And they are also in the middle with them. Sell Wilson to another club in Europe 🇪🇺.

  2. Chelsea have done well enough out of us, Livramento sell on clause and Hall, they can sling their hook imo.
We almost give players away and they charge us stupid prices.

  3. I hear you. Then again, Wilson’s exit could create room for a big signing in the final week of the window. Might be worth it when he’s almost 32, out of contract next summer and injury prone?

  4. I would sell him.18 million for a 32 year old is good business plus he’s started to be injured far too often. We can’t rely on him if Isak gets injured.
