Newcastle flop left in limbo after being dumped from 25-man squad

Newcastle loanee Jeff Hendrick has been dumped from Sheffield Wednesday’s 25-man squad for the second half of the 2023/24 season.

The Irish international sealed a season-long loan move to the Championship side in the final hours of deadline day last summer, but it’s not gone to plan for the midfielder.

He’s played 29 minutes of football since the turn of the year and hasn’t even made the squad in each of their last 12 league games.

As a result, he’s missed out on their official 25-man squad that was submitted last week for the remainder of the campaign. However, Wednesday have been unable to cancel his season-long move move and must continue to pay his wages.

What has happened is a mystery, but he’s also kicked his last ball for Newcastle United, who he’ll leave on a free transfer this summer with his contract set to expire.

At the time of his arrival almost four years ago, he was considered a smart free agent signing for Steve Bruce. In reality, he’s nowhere near good enough and will free up some much needed room on our wage bill once he finally departs in a few months time.

Elsewhere, Isaac Hayden made his QPR debut in a defeat to former club Norwich over the weekend, while Yankuba Minteh bagged an assist for Feyenoord in his first start since returning from AFCON.

He is an honest pro and a good lad The minute he knew he was no part of the plan he wanted to go play football elsewhere .
If only more footballers were made the same way the game wouldn’t be so greedy and corrupt
I wish him all the best. The lad deserves it no matter what all you kick a ball Billy’s think
I bet you wish you were as good and successful as Jeff

You’re either Jeff Hendrick or you’re one of his friends or family coming out with that deluded garbage. He’s a footballer that should be nowhere near the top flight, his agent is the talented one. He’s league 2 or national league standard at best. Who even says ‘kick a ball Billy’? What a minging phrase!
