Will Debuchy be teaming up with his mate again?
Last week Debuchy spoke to the press and revealed that he was less than impressed with not being allowed to leave Lille after 20 years of faultless service.
This led to coach Rudi Garcia finally admitting defeat in his bid to keep Debuchy at the club although he remained adamant that the France international wouldn’t be going anywhere until a suitable replacement had been found, again much to the annoyance of Debuchy as he felt the club were deliberately dragging their heels over finding a new right-back.
However it seems as thought things have changed on that front and Lille have now signed 20-year-old Djibril Sidibe from Troyes as a replacement for the now certain to be departing Debuchy. To give another indication of things progressing with Debuchy, he also failed to turn up for his first day of pre-season training after being given an extended break after Euro 2012.
I’m actually pretty confident of this transfer happening. From his best mate Yohan Cabaye telling him to come and join him at Newcastle, to Debuchy even saying that joining us was one of his priorities and that Lille shouldn’t be looking for big money for him, and even Alan Pardew saying ages ago that we were looking to sign one of Cabaye’s closest friends, it just all seems to be adding up.
Of course a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs, that we know of, and I’m not one to knickertwist or bemoan our offers and describe them as “lowballing” like some do, but I firmly believe that things are further on than is being made out with this deal.

If any deals are to be done they will be made a week or two before the window shuts as selling clubs realise they need to get rid if they are ever to get anything for their prize possession.

We get a few more academy players through the door.

We get Debuchy, Anita, Carroll, Douglas and a few more academy players.
What I expect -
We hold onto all of our current squad except Simpson and bring in Debuchy, not much more.
No matter what happens other clubs know they can’t rip us off anymore

You guys seen we’ve been linked with a £3-5m move for Ryan Babel(ex Liverpool) Hoffenheim winger/striker. Would be a good back-up striker/winger and is apparently willing to take a pay cut. Though my money is on him going to Swansea.

I don’t believe ba is going anywhere. he was available for free last year and there were no takers. As people have said about our transfers, why wouldn’t someone swoop for ba earlier? no transfer negotiations needed so couldve had a full pre season at a new club.

When the club decides they want the transfer fee and won’t talk over a new contract then it’s in the best interest of all to move on, even of you love the club you are playing for.

I’ll fully admit that Shola adorns the name on the back of my current home kit. I used to always get Shearer as well, but when I got the new kit (last year’s), I wanted a new name and felt it had to be someone who had a likelihood of being there for a long time…if not ending their career there…so, I went with Shola. Plus, I’ve only been to SJP once, and he scored while I was there…so it was fitting for that reason as well.
Thinking about it, would consider Asprilla and Solano too. Legends who geet love the club

I remember when I was 5/6 my dad was buying me and my brother a Newcastle top(my 1st one), I wasn’t that into football at the time so didn’t really know any of our players but I knew Shearer. My brother had already ‘dibbed’ Shearer 9 on his shirt, I was upset and he suggested I get Geremi on mine, thank god my dad said no and I got Andrew 9 on it.

Re the warm beer myth … it’s not meant to be taken literally. It’s a joke. Aussie beers are almost icy at times. In comparison, the very slightly chilled, or room temperature, beers in England are on the warm side.
Mind you, I had 5 days in England in June and drank some excellent beers. In general, English beer is better than Aussie stuff – even if it is warm – and the ambiance of the pub in which you drink it is much better.
Pity you get wet every time you go outside and freeze your balls off – even in June.

I wouldn’t be confident in Good going straight into the first team. I doubt he’ll be seen for at least 12 months, if ever.
Frankly, I doubt he’d be first choice at Brisbane Roar. He didn’t particularly stand out for me last season. He had some good games and some bad ones. A lot of coaches think he will be … ahem … as good as Craig Moore
Vegas, Kewell and Emerton struggled last season in the A league so even experienced players found it tough. Plus Good isn’t a diver so he will not fit in at the roar

True, Oz, true, ithe A-league is better than most will believe, but the pace of the PL is pretty frenetic and the standard of striker is well well above Aussie standards.
And there’s a lot more pressure and scrutiny in England.
