Will Debuchy be teaming up with his mate again?

The long running saga that has become the Mathieu Debuchy transfer fiasco looks like it may finally be coming to an end.

Last week Debuchy spoke to the press and revealed that he was less than impressed with not being allowed to leave Lille after 20 years of faultless service.

This led to coach Rudi Garcia finally admitting defeat in his bid to keep Debuchy at the club although he remained adamant that the France international wouldn’t be going anywhere until a suitable replacement had been found, again much to the annoyance of Debuchy as he felt the club were deliberately dragging their heels over finding a new right-back.

However it seems as thought things have changed on that front and Lille have now signed 20-year-old Djibril Sidibe from Troyes as a replacement for the now certain to be departing Debuchy. To give another indication of things progressing with Debuchy, he also failed to turn up for his first day of pre-season training after being given an extended break after Euro 2012.

I’m actually pretty confident of this transfer happening. From his best mate Yohan Cabaye telling him to come and join him at Newcastle, to Debuchy even saying that joining us was one of his priorities and that Lille shouldn’t be looking for big money for him, and even Alan Pardew saying ages ago that we were looking to sign one of Cabaye’s closest friends, it just all seems to be adding up.

Of course a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs, that we know of, and I’m not one to knickertwist or bemoan our offers and describe them as “lowballing” like some do, but I firmly believe that things are further on than is being made out with this deal.

What do you think?

Did anyone watch soccer am from a couple of days ago(was 6-8months old one)? Simpson was asked about his Newcastle teammates, typical things
    “who’s the fastest?”
    “Obertan”
    “Who’s the most skilled?”
    “Colocinni”
    “Who’s the most intelligent?”
    “Shola”
But then they asked “who’s the ‘longest’ in the shower( :| )?”
    “Lovenkrance… …yeah.. … he’s pretty long”

This window could either be one of the worst in a while or the best we have ever had.

If any deals are to be done they will be made a week or two before the window shuts as selling clubs realise they need to get rid if they are ever to get anything for their prize possession.

    Worst case scenario -

We get a few more academy players through the door.

    Best case scenario -

We get Debuchy, Anita, Carroll, Douglas and a few more academy players.

    What I expect -

We hold onto all of our current squad except Simpson and bring in Debuchy, not much more.

No matter what happens other clubs know they can’t rip us off anymore

P.s. anyone see the evening with Pardew and Carver 13th Aug at St James’, tickets £32. Could be interesting. You can ask them questions.

Bet you get one idiot asking when is the club going to spend some of the Andy Carroll money

Hope I haven’t offended anyone who has posed this question before

Chris G. That article says Lille have found a fullback. Hopefully one to replace Debuchy meaning the switch is more likely to go through now.

    Andymag says:

You guys seen we’ve been linked with a £3-5m move for Ryan Babel(ex Liverpool) Hoffenheim winger/striker. Would be a good back-up striker/winger and is apparently willing to take a pay cut. Though my money is on him going to Swansea.

  21. 21

This article already mentions Lille’s new full back, ignore my last post #rambling

    Troy Stavers says:

I fancy this one coming off.

Haven’t seen him play and I won’t take a blind bit of notice of the expected drooling that occurs over every transfer. They never live up to the dreamers expectations.

I will decide once I’ve seen him for 6 months. ;-)

  23. 23
    Troy Stavers says:

    @Belter

I’ve heard Solano play the last post a few times on here with his trumpet. It looks ridiculous tho when soap bubbles are coming out the end and he’s trying to make a serious point.

  24. 24
    Troy Stavers says:

I can predict Aussies next post.

Debuchy is an extremely talented player and I rate him as one of the most gifted footballers ever seen.
He will take the premier by storm. I predicted the same about Cabaye.

  25. 25
    Troy Stavers says:

    @belter
    You say;

They also know they won’t be ripped off by us again after the Carroll transfer.

I think I know what you mean Troy

  27. 27
    belter99 says:

    @ Troy

That also could work for us as no one really wants to bid a ridiculous fee for one of our players meaning we aren’t under as much threat of losing our stars.

  28. 28
    kimtoon says:

Andy@20 Liverpool forums seem to think Babel is returning to them . ;-)

  29. 29
    kimtoon says:

So now that Debuchy is free to leave it’s just a case of which clubs out of the two bid the highest .it’s not a forgone conclusion he’s on his way here .

  30. 30
    richietoon says:

Kim…It would make no difference who bids highest if the player doesn’t want to go there though ;-)

  31. 31

Richie ,if our bids not high enough ,I suppose he’ll just stay there will he. :???:

  32. 32
    SolanosTrumpet says:

Troll saw your comments on past toon heroes on last post today. actually agree with a lot of them. Do you reckon the difference between the examples you gave and Carroll is how they exited? don’t think i would begrudge anyone in the world a move from here. but with Carroll/barton/enrique it was all the tosh with it. just move for ambition/ money whatever and shut up. thy all tried to play on fans hate of the board to justify their moves. “forced out, no ambitions etc”.

Would be very confused if debuchy signed now. dont understand why we’ve been playing santon rb in the friendlies.

  33. 33
    SolanosTrumpet says:

I don’t believe ba is going anywhere. he was available for free last year and there were no takers. As people have said about our transfers, why wouldn’t someone swoop for ba earlier? no transfer negotiations needed so couldve had a full pre season at a new club.

  34. 34
    richietoon says:

Kim… That’s not what I said is it? The player is the one who decides where he plays his football not the selling club, if the club he really wants to go to does not make an offer that the selling club find suitable then he’ll either try and force through a move, go to the next option if they’ve had a bid accepted, or stay where he is and the club could potentially be left with an unhappy player , either way it’s still the players decision….which is all I was saying ;-)

  35. 35
    SolanosTrumpet says:

Actually richie what usually happens if a player doesn’t want to go to a club that has had a bid rejected for them. is he hands in a transfer request at gun point, gets bustled into a helicopter and skips his way to sign a contract. all the while “forced” ;-)

  40. 40

    @doitforsirbobby

When the club decides they want the transfer fee and won’t talk over a new contract then it’s in the best interest of all to move on, even of you love the club you are playing for.

  64. 64
    Rodzilla says:

…we’ve got Simpson, Santon, Perch, (Raylor), and Tavernier to fill RB (as well as Jonas). It all looks a bit lop sided to me.

  65. 65

MM..he signed for Galatasaray a few days ago I think, unless it fell thru.

  128. 128
    Sharpy17 says:

At the moment, all that has happened is that Lille have signed a new player .. I’m not getting too excited just yet. But I agree, it’s certainly promising as long as we get our finger out and get the job done now.
Once he’s stood with Pardew, holding a toon top at SJP, then I’ll celebrate.

I wouldn’t touch Babel with a barge poll personally like. He’s another Obertan IMO, lots of pace, lots of potential – very little end product.
Besides, the way Marv and Sammi are looking in pre-season I don’t think we need him.

  129. 129
    Munich Mag says:

According to Ed’s blog, Santoon has gotten himself into a half-nelson with a lass from the toon. Can only be good news ;-)

I ain’t commented on dot org for a long while now like, but I tend to take a back seat on all the blog politics shite. Far as I’m concerned Workyticket is a nice enough lad. I know a few on here think differently but I ain’t been in any slanging matches with him. It’s understandable he’ll fight his corner when under attack. Hahaha, crazy. ….I suppose it is politics at the end of the day. Both support the same cause, but from different standpoints.

…I don’t have any blog loyalties, it just so happens I ended up on here cos I recognised more names from the Great Ed Blog Exodus of 2008.

CC I agree with Demba Ba mate. I’ll be happy on the 1st, when everything is past and gone.

At the end of the day our big hitters will always be of interest to the other top clubs. It’s a lot better than a few years ago when we were squabbling and on the slide to relegation…

Happy days nowadays as far as I’m concerned…

    Rodzilla says:

MM, yeah I suppose deleting blog posts is definitely bad practice for a blogmaster. Vicious circle I guess. With regards to the ‘nahs nowt about football’ slant, I think Worky usually concentrates on the politics and historicals rather than the technical football arguments. There certainly seems to be more people knowledgeable of the game over here.

…must admit, I crawl under my rock as soon as people start talking 3,4,2,1 and 3,3,2,1,1, chucking football buzzwords all over the place   ….I don’t play the game, I just watch it.

  177. 177
    Sharpy17 says:

Richie – no one likes a smart arse  ;-)

MM – not for me mate, think we have enough cover for the left side of midfield. I’d sooner use that money towards a right wing/striker type player. I know we have Benny but he’s more left footed and Im afraid I have very little faith in Obertan.
I’d love to see us chase someone like Matt Phillips or Tom Ince from Blackpool or Nathan Redmond from Birmingham – quality young players. I know they would cost more than £3-5m but think they’d be worth the money and would offer more than Babel or Obertan

  178. 178
    Big Dave says:

Ice @ 175 when he left the toon he was no longer a mate of mine ;-)

Rod it all went on when you were on a blog sabbatical ;-)

I agree ICEDOG the feker is useless would never get in ahead of who we already have for his position and the likes of Sammy and Ferguson would get in the reserve team ahead of him .

  183. 183
    Rodzilla says:

Sorry Axel, I was trying to be a funny cunt, one of ‘Fleetwood Mac’s’ most famous albums is called ‘Rumours’. haha, sorry

…shit though, seriously, what the fuck has Joey Barton done to his career. You can’t go through life constantly apologising for fucking up. I stood up for JB while he was with us, but I think it’s a case of leopards and spots as far as our old chum is concerned. He’s at an age now where it should all be behind him. I guess he made his bed 6+ years ago. That kind of shit sticks. It takes a very strong will to ignore impulses, in Joey’s case violent ones. He’s always been a target, and for that he has my sympathy; but his self restraint is that of a rabid dog.

    Sad really.

  184. 184
    Sharpy17 says:

Ice – didn’t Lpool pay a ridiculous price for him as well, seem to remember something like £10-15m or something like that.
God I’d love to know how much money they have wasted on shit players in the last 10yrs or so.

  185. 185

SHARPy they have been chaseing the past for a long time spending a fortune on the way and imho they will still be chaseing this yr and for the next few years, not a jabba lover but would do it our way over there way, just wish he would pay that bit extra for quality ;-)

  187. 187

Axel, fair play, I see you’ve thrown quite a few grammatical errors in there.
I’m particularly drawn towards the badly placed comma. I love it!

  191. 191
    Big Dave says:

Rod I can remember you being another one of the few that backed him up. TBH he was treated unfairly because 90% of people only ever heard one side of the stories and that was always the papers side. I tried a few times to give a reason for why he done this and that but some thought I was making stories up just to make him look less guilty.
You should check out his web site as it will let people see some of the shit he has had threw at him http://www.joeybarton.com/

But I do admit he has become a bit of a knob from he went on twitter but I always said that was him trying to promote himsel for after his footie

  192. 192
    kimtoon says:

    Rod ;-)

  193. 193
    Rodzilla says:

…and I’m not ‘policing’ any spellings, Ice. I actually think it’s quite quaint the way you English folk colloquialise. I’m from Belgium myself. I’m the only one there.

He bloody has a view on everything  , fair on him to state that the site is for what he believes however contreversial it may be, still a knob though

  195. 195
    Big Dave says:

Andy I can remember a couple of yrs ago some were running him down for being a bully and a demon for stubbing the cigar out in the poor trainees eye. but when I said that he done it because the poor trainee had set fire to his shirt they said I was dreaming and just trying to stick up for him. well im glad now that he has made it all public as maybe people will hear his side aswell.

  196. 196
    Rodzilla says:

Dave, I’ll check it out mate.
No doubt in my mind he’s an intelligent bloke, and very charismatic. Self discipline and anger management seem to be the issue though. It’s all that ‘red mist’ shit I guess. He’s constantly under verbal attack which would drive even the sanest of us to some sort of retaliation I guess.

…difference though, is most of us don’t play contact sports for a living. A highly-charged and physically aggressive occupation.

Fucking hell, as much as I’ve just written him off in my previous posts, it must be fucking hard trying to shake off his ‘violent’ tag when so many cunts keep winding him up.

    ….stuck between a rock and a hard place. :???:

  197. 197
    Big Dave says:

But then again when I said that Tugboat Nolan was the one that stirred up the shit between Carroll and Saylor because Tugboat was trying to push Saylor out of the team because of Saylors close links to Al, I was told that I was only saying that because I didn’t like Tugboat  and that I should get behind Tugboat because he was one of the best caps we had and was far more loyal to the club than Saylor

  198. 198
    Newkie says:

Aye, I always stood up for Joey as well but I think twitter was just a step too far, Barton just can’t ignore his ego and he was getting a lot of praise when he really should have just shut the fuck up and got on with it

  199. 199
    Big Dave says:

Rod I do think he suffers from a bit of little man syndrome too   as for trying to shake of tags yeah sometimes they can stick with you for yrs even if you have changed ;-)
Some of the abuse he has had on twitter is really sickening but he deals with it well

  200. 200
    Axel says:

BIG DAVE and ROD i see both your points of view and where you’s are coming from ie Barton , but he does too some extent bring it on himself going on Twitter and seeking the media with his out spoken views . I am all for people airing their views and have no problem with it , but maybe his advisors Should of got him more out of the limelight off the field with his reputation and history and told him too only let his football do the talking .

  201. 201
    Big Dave says:

Newkie yeah he started to be really liked when people seen the real side of him on twitter at 1st. but I think the ego came with the amount of followers he was getting so he started playing up to it then became a real opinionated knob, but I think that is a front he is putting on to keep him in the spotlight for his after footie career

    Axel I agree with you

  202. 202
    Newkie says:

Big Dave-Aye I actually got twitter just to follow him and a couple of the other nufc boys, but after a few months I got tired of him and the whole thing and haven’t been back since.

Probably played a part in his deciding to fuck with the board as well, fans from every team, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, even Manure were all like “ohh we want you with us” even if they were the minority and were being completely unrealistic, it definitely fed his ego.

  203. 203
    Axel says:

well while we are on about a “bad boy ” what are your views on Gangster Ranger ? while i think he is a total knob head he does have a bit of talent . Is their nobody that can save the tw@ts carrier . Why do all these types not realise they were born with a gift ?

  204. 204
    Rodzilla says:

Axel, I think when you’re talking about someone like Joey Barton, man-management doesn’t really come into the equation. Barton is his own man and won’t take shit from anyone. Of course he’ll spend time politely discussing shit over tea and scones, but away from the dinner table is hunting ground.
He has an uncontrollable artistic impulse to react, and that will either:

    a) get him into trouble, or
    b) bring him acclaim

    …50/50 I guess.

    FUCK IT!

  205. 205
    Rodzilla says:

Axel, Nile is very young still.

…not even at cigar butt-flicking stage as far as JB’s tracklist is concerned.

    Axel says:

So just read on Sky Everton are letting Tim Cahill go for a nominal fee to the mls . One of their best players leaving is going too dent their chances of top 6 next season . Dont think Moyes will be happy with that one .

  208. 208
  209. 209
    Big Dave says:

Axel I was all for giving him chances before because I knew people had gave me chances when I was young and stupid, but you can only give people so many chances then they don’t respect you anymore and just think your a bit of a tool.
But maybe just give him one more chance this season if Pards agrees

  210. 210
    Newkie says:

Axel-During the CC season I thought Ranger showed amazing potential, certainly enough to be a better all round player than Carroll. When we were promoted and he came on he often did well, but for whatever reason his finishing became shite and he became more of a twat.

Unfortunately we’re lumped with him for 5 odd years, i’d like to see him loaned out for 6 months or so and see if he changes his tune, but he’s fcked up so many times i wouldn’t be fussed if we shoved him out the door at the first opportunity.

  211. 211
    Big Dave says:

Reet im outta here lads catch you’s tomorrow sometime

    Rodzilla says:

Newks, soz I’m gona namedrop here like, but when I was talking to Jesus about 3 years ago last April, he said Ranger was definitely the “one to watch” next season.

…fuckin’ sack of spuds. Looked a gift horse in the mouth and saw a ghostly apparition of Tom Cruise in medieval costume.

This is actually a true story.
(names may have been changed to protect the innocent)

  214. 214
    Andymag says:

    Newkie
The biggest mistake we made was giving that idiot a five year contract. Should have sold him to a CC club for just under a million in the January that Carroll left.

  215. 215
    Axel says:

NEWKIE i agree with loaning him out , the trouble with the cunt is he got far too much far too quickly after joining us , a 2 year deal with a one sided option for us too add a couple of years would of been better than a 5 year deal . Given the talent he has i would say loan him out too a club in the lower reaches of the Football league or into scotland where he would have too graft and show him its a honour too be in the premiership and playing for a club that has top class facilities instead of having to train and play on wind swept water logged pitches and being clobbered in both training and matches by hard knocks . That could be the wake up call he needs .

  216. 216
    Rodzilla says:

Axel et al, I think the problem with Ranger is he’s earned too much too young, and believes his own hype.
I think he listens to too much of that rap music.

  217. 217
    Moreno says:

    Rod,
When you look at his tweets and hear about his behaviour you see he is really negative aswell. Not an endearing trait and a good attitude to reach the top as a professional footballer :/

Moreno, I think he’ll start realising what he’s fucked up in a couple of years time; when he realises he can’t twist, turn and accelerate as good as he could when we snapped him up as a juvenile delinquent.

    Newkie says:

Guess its a double edged sword. When we gave ranger than 5year he was a mug but he was showing plenty of potential. If we’d left him with whatever he had left and renegotiated later he might have wanted more or fecked off to a better club-imo with the right attitude he could have been a very big English talent, bit like sturridge except at least sturridge gives about 50% as opposed to 15%.

Doubt he’ll ever make it. Hopefully he’ll look back on these days in his later years and realise what a twat he was.

  230. 230

aye, on topic anyway, Debuchy is a barking fustard.

  231. 231

Ranger had more than enough time to get his shit together. I suppose that’s the gamble you take when you bring in ‘youngsters’ from outside Newcastle.

Sure they’ll pop us somewhere though – possibly Metro.

  286. 286
    richietoon says:

Stuart… I’d read somewhere that “real radio” had been taken over a while back and that they’d already “axed” the legend shows in other parts of the country so it was only a matter of time….dunno how true like

JJ…you like? she’s worth about £3bn I think  and is around 250 years old

Did she get hit by a train and got push back together.

  289. 289
    richietoon says:

JJ…feck knows mate, bloody scary tho. She got married not long back…he’s not after her money though

  290. 290
    JJ says:

I was going to say. If he married her in her youth, he must be reckoning despite all the money, he got a pretty raw deal.

  291. 291
    richietoon says:

apparently she divided her cash amongst her kids before the wedding to prove it was for love not money…..yeah right

  292. 292
    Big Dave says:

I wonder if he’s getting closer to that door, fuk if he’s that slow do we need him.

  293. 293
    JJ says:

At this point Dave, I’m worried this window is too close to the usual trend set over the past few January’s. That the only signings we will make are the free signings and cheap ones made early.

We might bring in Debuchy like was did with Santon. But that will in all likelihood be it for the window, and we will be linked to a number of others until deadline day when we will make a last gasp bid that will be rejected.

Then in January IF will make that signing, it’ll be because they (Douglas, Remy etc will only have six months remaining on their contract), so there clubs will be pressured into selling.

  294. 294
    kimtoon says:

The talk now is we are cooling on Debuchy due to Lille not budging on their £8m valuation . Reports say we are ready to move on to other targets.

  295. 295
    aussie magpie fan says:

Apparntly we are pulling out of the Debuchy deal…. something to do with the sell on clause… sky sports report..

  296. 296
    aussie magpie fan says:

Beat me to it Kim :-)

  297. 297
    JJ says:

Well with Sky Sports News reporting that Newcastle are going to pull out of the Debuchy deal and that it is now unlikely to happy.

And I say this truthfully and not with sarcasm… I fully now fully expect Debuchy to sign within the next few days.

  298. 298
    richietoon says:

Aussie do you have a link? the one I read earlier doesn’t mention any sell on clause nor does it report anything “new”, we already know they need to reduce their asking price, just as we know we have to increase on our initial offer our move on to another target.

  299. 299
    richietoon says:

Agree with JJ, imo SKY are one of the most unreliable sources out there.

  300. 300
    richietoon says:

    Dave@392

  301. 301
    aussie magpie fan says:

392??, are you refering to a joke that hasn’t been posted yet, with the laughter icon :-) :-) :-)

  302. 302
    richietoon says:

Yep  I mean @292….392 could be the link that mentions the sell on clause you mentioned maybe? ;-)

  303. 303
    aussie magpie fan says:

No link sorry mate, It was actually newcastlemad that quoted the sell on deal bit.. sorry for the bum steer..

  304. 304
    richietoon says:

So, Sky actually reported that the 2 clubs need to agree a fee(shock, horror) and that Lille signing a new full back might push the deal on(as reported by most other media outlets yesterday)….nothing to see here, move along

  305. 305
    aussie magpie fan says:

Agree mate, no reason to believe a negative story over a positive one.. the press has no idea at all…

  306. 306
    richietoon says:

I’ll be glad when it’s all over, but it would be nice if we can at least get the defence sorted sooner rather than later….for the sake of everyones nerves and sanity if nowt else

  307. 307
    aussie magpie fan says:

Yep, two defenders and I will be happy (as long as we lose no one else). I do recall that Debuchy does have a 8m buy out clause in his contract.. but I will be happy when it is all said and done.. then it will be fine until January :-) :-)

  308. 308
    richietoon says:

Feck me Aussie, ya worse than a journo…
“This is one of my priorities. Inter Milan also inquired about me. I HAVE NO BUYOUT CLAUSE, Lille may refuse an offer they consider inadequate. Already it is necessary that clubs are in contact. It is not yet the case. Newcastle have proposed €5 million but I do not know how much the leaders of Lille are seeking. I don’t think they should expect an extraordinary offer” revealed Debuchy to L’Equipe.

  309. 309
    kimtoon says:

I think the sell on clause issue is actually our sell on not Lilles. What I mean is ,MA doesn’t want to pay£8m as after Debuchy has been with us for 4 years his sell on value wouldn’t be enough to justify an £8m initial outlay now. That is my understanding of it ,it doesn’t fit the buy low sell high thing we got going on .

  310. 310
    richietoon says:

Kim…yep thats how I read it too.

  311. 311
    kimtoon says:

Also I see Liverpool owners are leaving the future of Carroll in the hands of Buck  .That’s a dumbass move as MA &co will run rings round Buck if it comes to thrashing out a deal.

  312. 312
    Big Dave says:

Richie it seems like Aussie is trying to make up parts of his own story on Debuchy, and he has the cheek to go on at others
I knew I could rely on you to keep him on the straight and narrow and cut out his crap

  313. 313
    richietoon says:

Dave..to be fair I lifted that off a forum, so they could have made it up  ….can’t remember reading owt about a release clause though.

  314. 314
    aussie magpie fan says:

I can only base what I know on what I read with these deals, like everyone else….. except those with insider info .. hmmm

BD – who have I had a go at?

  315. 315
    icedog says:

well i lost the battle with greggs try to get them to do 18in pies for richie its a no go,but dont worry richie we will still sing your song at sjp,”who ate all the pies” ;-)

  316. 316
    richietoon says:

Dave…you have to say something funny @392 so I don’t look stupid@300

  317. 317
    richietoon says:

    Ice…thanks for trying anyway

  318. 318
    MDS says:

8M seems a lot for Debuchy

  319. 319
    icedog says:

well even Debuchy himself said they are asking to much as hes only a defender not a striker they command bigger fees

  320. 320
    richietoon says:

They’ll meet in the middle at 6m€…….hopefully :???:

  321. 321
    icedog says:

ive the feeling all these transfers will go on and on until the last couple of days of window, which is not what pardew will want, imo they should do at least some pre-season games

  322. 322
    kimtoon says:

One things for sure it’s turning into a major pain in the ass and he better be worth it ,if ,when he comes.

  323. 323
    Andymag says:

Is it £8m being talked about or €8m? Cus if it’s the latter that’s just over £6m which really is a bargain do someone of Debuchy’s level, I mean it’s just over 500k more than what we spent on Santon(still a great deal for us).

  324. 324
    richietoon says:

Kim….I’m still a tad concerned about his defensive qualities but that’s just going off what I’ve seen, which isn’t alot to be truthful. Pards and Carr know what they’re doing though…I hope

  325. 325
    aussie magpie fan says:

Big Dave, if you have something to say to me, say it.. don’t do it through snide remarks..

  326. 326
    richietoon says:

Andy….feck knows, depends on which article you read I think :???:

  327. 327
    icedog says:

ANDY i dont think anyone knows what the fk is going on it depends on where and what you read all i know the whole show is a pain in the ass on all the transfer dealings

  328. 328
    Andymag says:

    Richie
Suppose it depends on the system that pards wants to play, he’ll have told Carr exactly what type of players he wants for his positions. It could be that Debuchy is coming in to bomb down the right hand channel(on the pitch not the sea :???: ) whilst tiote steps over to the right to guard the exposed section.

  329. 329
    icedog says:

AMF are people talking with fork-tongues mate ;-)

  330. 330
    Andymag says:

    Richie and Ice
True, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if we can secure him thus dismissing the press bollocks.

  331. 331
    aussie magpie fan says:

Ice – Pretty sure they are mate…

  332. 332
    kimtoon says:

Maybe he’s going to be deployed as a RW rather than a RB :???:

  333. 333
    richietoon says:

Andy…maybe, but a defender has to be able to defend no matter what the system is, but like I said I haven’t seen enough of him to be able to judge that properly…..not that my opinion means feck all anyway

  334. 334
    richietoon says:

Kim….I think he will possibly play there at times, but hope he’s gonna be primarily a RB.

  335. 335
    icedog says:

AMF dont worry mate ill watch your back,stab-vest in the post ;-)

  336. 336
    aussie magpie fan says:

Ice :-) I’ll be waiting by my post box mate :-) :-)

On Debuchy, has anyone seen him play for Lille? Or is all the attacking talk based on his euro performances? Be interesting to hear from a Lille fan to see what the go is with his defensive qualities..

  337. 337
    richietoon says:

Aussie..Not me, just seen him at the Euros where he wasn’t really playing defensively…..need one of the French lads on who know more. I reckon he’ll be a canny signing….if it happens, although he’s wearing no7 for us now according to Wiki

  338. 338
    aussie magpie fan says:

    Your kidding me… feckin hell…. :-)

He could have been asked to push foward as often as he could during the euros. It may not nessesarily be his natural game, but like you say, he will be a sweet pick up if it comes off..

  339. 339
    icedog says:

AMF aye good point there mate after all,did we not see jonas playing at full back at the world cup,and couldnt do it imo,but plays diff at club level, think a thought should be given to debuchy himself hes done what “he” can to get the move, hope hes not left with egg on his face

  340. 340
    JJ says:

That Cwarr must be the biggest loser on the planet. I would love to punch him in the mouth!

  341. 341
    icedog says:

JJ aim a bit lower mate i know its hard as the brown stuff comes out both ends

  342. 342
    Dubtoon says:

Oh for the days when ‘sky sources understand’ meant it was true 80% of the time….

Maybe the sell on thing would be to do with lille wanting a percentage of any future sale? Not the this disagreement ever happened

  343. 343
    richietoon says:

Probably best not to judge any player on internationals, completely different ball game, as it were

  344. 344
    richietoon says:

Dub…as Kim said earlier it appears it’s just NUMad saying Ashley may be concerned about his resale value if he were to be sold after 4 years rather than any clauses in the contract.

  345. 345
    richietoon says:

    JJ…what’s he saying now like?

  346. 346
    JJ says:

    Richie,

He and a few sites are reporting Ruban Kazan have met the clause for Demba Ba.

He says Demba is on his way.

  347. 347
    richietoon says:

JJ…cheers, just read it on a few sites

  348. 348
    Tommy Gibb says:

The Daily mail are saying the same thing ,believe it when it happens.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2178284/Demba-Ba-set-Rubin-Kazan-switch.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

  349. 349
    kimtoon says:

JJ @346 ,Well if it’s true i’m gutted.

  350. 350
    Andymag says:

Even if they did meet the clause would Kazan fork out the 80k/pw that Ba will want for going to that league?

  351. 351
    richietoon says:

Tommy…Aye, as well as them triggering the clause he’d have to want to go too and if that was the case then there’s nowt to be done…..roll on next Wednesday.

  352. 352
    Andymag says:

From what I’ve heard Is that his clause doesn’t become void Aug 1st it just increases to 15m, whether he still gets half of that fee I don’t know. It could be that most clubs aren’t aware that the clause changes and are just waiting till August to put their bid in.

  353. 353
    icedog says:

ANDY of coarse all clubs will be aware mate, the agents will make sure of that ;-)

  354. 354
    Andymag says:

    Ice
‘Arry will make sure all are aware. He’s off in some south American rainforest now showing the people there how to play football so they can tell them all about a man called Demba :???: .

  355. 355
  356. 356
    MDS says:

even if someone triggers the clause, Demba still has to agree to terms. I don’t see him wanting to go to Russia

  357. 357
    Andymag says:

    MDS
Yeah I was trying to say that earlier, he’ll demand a lot of money in wages to go to a league like that. As I’ve said in the past if I was a black footballer no amount of money could make me move to a Russian or Polish side.

  358. 358
    Whumpie says:

I think Demba’s for staying. No way he’d go to Russia; we know he’s not all about the money, which would be the only reason. He’s a decent bloke that means what he says, and he’s made it clear that his values are way above the usual money-chasing, slappershagging idiocy we’ve come to expect from prem footballers.

Couldn’t agree more, lost lots of respect for Eto when he went. Knew Martins was a greedy bastard and from what I hear he hates it in Russia which is why he was desperate to get that loan to birmingham a year and a half ago.

  368. 368
    richietoon says:

Andy…no one knows what the Sunderland one is worth yet, even them. They said it would show in the next accounts, I think it has alot of variables and depends on how many companies join the Invest in Africa initiative, could be lucrative for them though “if” alot of companies take part.

  369. 369
    Munich Mag says:

Andymag@366….they can get all the money they like, but red and white stripes will always look shoyt in my book……

Ice I was fuking fuming because I had bought DeDe the 2 kits with Carroll 9 on the back and when he went he would not wear them again, it didn’t help that lots of his friends were dipper fans so that was way over £100 down the drain
Kim I would love to have the don’t give a monkeys attitude but I can’t, I have tried to convince myself before to be like that but it never worked

  386. 386
    Big Dave says:

Ice he sprouts up that much and quick that he doesn’t get to long out of kits, saying that he still wears his Bayern top which he had on today. but atm he cant wait for the new home kit to come out but this time he wont have a name on the back ;-)

    Moreno says:

Never got a name on a shirt before, only one I will probably get will be Shola 23

  392. 392
    Moreno says:

…next King Shola day it’s happening

  393. 393
    Newkie says:

Moreno- You know, I’ve actually been tempted by that myself. Never had a name before…plus if I just got ameobi there’s a half chance his brother could be awesome, then people wouldn’t stare at me and shake their heads…

  394. 394
    NorCal Toonfan says:

I’ll fully admit that Shola adorns the name on the back of my current home kit. I used to always get Shearer as well, but when I got the new kit (last year’s), I wanted a new name and felt it had to be someone who had a likelihood of being there for a long time…if not ending their career there…so, I went with Shola. Plus, I’ve only been to SJP once, and he scored while I was there…so it was fitting for that reason as well.

  395. 395
    Moreno says:

Thinking about it, would consider Asprilla and Solano too. Legends who geet love the club

  396. 396
    Newkie says:

  397. 397
    Andymag says:

    Moreno
I remember when I was 5/6 my dad was buying me and my brother a Newcastle top(my 1st one), I wasn’t that into football at the time so didn’t really know any of our players but I knew Shearer. My brother had already ‘dibbed’ Shearer 9 on his shirt, I was upset and he suggested I get Geremi on mine, thank god my dad said no and I got Andrew 9 on it.

  398. 398
  399. 399

    Geremi, brilliant

    http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/905990-newcastle-and-sunderland-eye-up-marseille-full-back-rod-fanni

    Rod Fanni….
Now there’s a name to put on your back

  403. 403
    Newkie says:

full back :| …player even

  404. 404
    Moreno says:

Whenever I see ‘Newcastle and Sunderland linked..” I just think….nah, just sells more papers. Plus that’s in the Metro so it’s bound to be gash!

  405. 405
    Newkie says:

I know, I just want it to be true so there’s a fanni in the squad.

To be fair the Ba link with the both of us (and Everton) was pretty good going…but i’m sure they threw every other clubs name in at one time or another…

Pipped the to Ba and Cisse, christ they must be pissed ;-)

  406. 406
    Moreno says:

Shame we haven’t brought defenders in early to bed in and giving Simpson game time if he is going…need to get Debuchy over the line asap

The father in law reckoned that Brits kick their kids out of the house once they hit 18….fecking 16 where I come from
It seems to stem from the fact that most British kids go to Uni in another part of the UK so “leave home” where as in Spain they generally seem to go to their local uni and so stay at home….that was our theory anyway.

whats this about an aussie needing a work permit. shirley lots of windups in there to keep things ticking over.

CC perhaps they have their priorities right

  428. 428
    brisvegas says:

Re the warm beer myth … it’s not meant to be taken literally. It’s a joke. Aussie beers are almost icy at times. In comparison, the very slightly chilled, or room temperature, beers in England are on the warm side.

Mind you, I had 5 days in England in June and drank some excellent beers. In general, English beer is better than Aussie stuff – even if it is warm – and the ambiance of the pub in which you drink it is much better.

Pity you get wet every time you go outside and freeze your balls off – even in June.

  429. 429
    richietoon says:

    CC…correct answer

  430. 430
    richietoon says:

Bris…I’ve never had a room temp beer in a pub…..strictly a lager man myself tho which I’ve always had ice cold, dunno about the “real ales” etc or what temp they are served at, maybe that’s what they mean?…..in which case I’ll shut up

  431. 431
    brisvegas says:

I guess room temperature in England is pretty cold.

Preman…I believe in the trade it’s called back pedalling ;-)

  435. 435
    JJ says:

    Richie, spot on…

If you had to have beer at room temperature here it would be around 36 degrees Celsius.
Ice cold lager. Personally I’m a Hansa man although I’ve been drinking Castle Lite lately… must be maturing and all.

So I take it there’s no news. We seem to be getting less advanced in our transfer activity the more time goes by…

  436. 436
    JJ says:

    Premandup

@432, I certainly hope so. What have been the biggest mistake since the purchase of Michael Owen to bring him back for the quoted price.

Your not still in a huff are ye as Richie says you like to huff a bit.
Richie I heard you can fit a full pack of custard creams in your mouth in one go.

  439. 439
    richietoon says:

Dave…and still be able to whistle The Blaydon Races ;-)

  440. 440
    JJ says:

Richie, I heard you could fit a full male chicken in your mouth… but that seemed a bit unrealistic… and just an odd thing to do.

  441. 441
    JJ says:

So apparently Curtis Good has had his work permit approved and he should sign with us in the next few days.

I guess that will be our centre back cover then.

  442. 442
    richietoon says:

JJ… and an even odder thing to randomly think of, still whatever floats ya boat mate :|

Who was the last one we had. Craig Moore? Guess I won’t be getting my hopes up.

    richietoon says:

Viduka had a talent…for being injured

  450. 450
    Big Dave says:

JJ good point mate but is it a done deal ?.
Richie anything aboze zero would make a change  I wonder if he’ll be as touchy as Aussie

  451. 451
    brisvegas says:

Viduka, Troisi, Moore – none have been much good for us. 2 were past their best and one never made it.

Still have Brad Inman yet to make an impact.

  452. 452
    aussie magpie fan says:

Big Dave, not in a huff mate, all good…An Aussie with talent is a lot more common than an englishman with straight teeth :-) :-) :-)

  453. 453
    brisvegas says:

Oz @ 452 ?englishmen with straight teeth? What’s that about?

  454. 454
    aussie magpie fan says:

I have heard a myth that some are about Vegas.. not sure how true it is :-) :-)

  455. 455
    Big Dave says:

Aussie thats good I thought you had threw the toys out
Bris are they not the typical talentless aussie type Richie and I were talking about
Has Good been confirmed yet or is it just looking as if its on.

  456. 456
    aussie magpie fan says:

Big Dave, check the link I posted earlier, it has quotes from melbourne hearts coach, Good is on his way..

  457. 457
    MDS says:

AMF/Bris. Is Good good enough to play now at all or is he one for the future?

  458. 458
    brisvegas says:

Dave – None were much good at Newcastle, but they had their day – Viduka at Leeds, Celtic and Zagreb, and Moore at Rangers.. They were 5 or 6 years past their best when they came to Newcastle. Yeah, they had talent.

Troisi, however, is just another run of the mill footballer

  459. 459
    aussie magpie fan says:

Hard to say MDS, but if he keeps progressing at the rate he did this year then yes he could be in the mix

  460. 460
    Big Dave says:

Aussie my phone times out trying to load it, but i’ll take your word for it ;-) but is Good not a youngun with potential ?

  461. 461
    brisvegas says:

I wouldn’t be confident in Good going straight into the first team. I doubt he’ll be seen for at least 12 months, if ever.

Frankly, I doubt he’d be first choice at Brisbane Roar. He didn’t particularly stand out for me last season. He had some good games and some bad ones. A lot of coaches think he will be … ahem … as good as Craig Moore

  462. 462
    aussie magpie fan says:

Vegas, Kewell and Emerton struggled last season in the A league so even experienced players found it tough. Plus Good isn’t a diver so he will not fit in at the roar :-) :-) last crack I promise :-) :-)

  463. 463
    brisvegas says:

True, Oz, true, ithe A-league is better than most will believe, but the pace of the PL is pretty frenetic and the standard of striker is well well above Aussie standards.

And there’s a lot more pressure and scrutiny in England.

  464. 464
    JJ says:

    Aussie,

There are Englishman with straight teeth mate, they call them drenches I think.

  465. 465
    JJ says:

    *denchers.

  466. 466
    JJ says:

I”m please we have brought in these talented youngsters.

Amalfitano, Bigi and now Good. I got a feeling we might sign that French youngster Anthony Koura.

That would mean, Anthony Koura, Bigi, Amalfitano and Good to go with Vuckic, Fergie, Sammie, Inman, Streete, Tavernier, Abied and Gosling. I suppose we could add Santon, he’s only 21!

    ______________________Goal?_____________________

    Tavernier________Good________Streete_________Fergie

    ____________________Bigirimana___________________

    __________Gosling___Abied___Amalfitano_____________

    ________Vuckic/Koura_________Sammy_______________

Still got Ranger, Dummett, Richardson, Moyo and Inman. All under 22.

  467. 467
    JJ says:

Now we need to bring in a first choice right back, centre back and forward/winger. :|

Unfortunately I think we’ll only manage to get one of those.

  468. 468
    CC says:

    premandup@427

I agree with you the whole thing is a waste of time and they are right to put playing for their clubs first, Im English not british, I cared when we were making tits of ourselves in the euros im not remotely arsed about a bunch of welsh helping us do it twice in the same summer.

Im delirious none on our lot are playing in it, But why did Bale go through the palava of wearing the GB shirt and pissing off most of wales and then make up an injury, Just have the balls to say your not interested in being involved in the first place…

  469. 469
    aussie magpie fan says:

Vegas, I agree, the A League is a physical league but the pace is a long way short of the PL, but you could say that about most leagues.. Pardz and Co must have seen something in him…

  470. 470
    NUFCgt says:

Debuchy, Douglas and Remy I’d be over the moon if we sign them!

Amalfitano, Bigi, Good, Debuchy, Douglas and Remy. Then no one can complain about Mike Ashley!

  471. 471
    toonsy says:

NUFCgt – They can, and will ;)

On a different note, how the mighty have fallen. The old Glasgow Rangers club bus is now doing Glasgow to London runs on Megabus  Reet plush inside mind
