Game On! Newcastle v Wolves

Game On against Wolves!

Well I think it’s fair to say that the two weeks just gone has seemed like a proverbial lifetime.

The reason – no NUFC action!

That changes of course this afternoon as we return to Premier League action and look to put behind us a horror show at White Hart Lane last time out. It’s not the only sub plot to the game today though as Wolves will be trying exorcise their own demons after going down 5-1 to their local rivals last time out.

I must confess that I don’t actually know what it is like to be thumped 5-1 by your closest rivals. I’d ask a Mackem but I can’t stand the smell of them so couldn’t get close enough, plus I don’t think they’d be able to answer without covering me in some form of mouth froth.

Anyway, I’ll save that malarkey for next week. Right now it’s managerless (sort of!) Wolves to contend with. I say ‘sort of’ because Caretaker Manager Terry Connor has been handed the Molineux managerial reins until the end of the season. Will that lead to the “new manager” effect on his players? We’ll find out this afternoon I guess…

For more background on the match you can peruse my match preview by clicking here or you can take a look at NUFC stats’ number crunching stat attack by clicking here.

That’s enough talking for now anyway as we prepare for battle against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Can Alan Pardew’s men keep the Wolves from the door? Or will Terry Connor’s men huff and puff and blow the house down?

Howay the lads!

  1. man oh man could you really see that coming. ***** defending by Raylor. Nothing more than they have deserved.

  2. We are losing most of the second balls again…though to be honest wolves have absolutely packed the central midfield, and we cannot work it out..,.

  3. If I’m being blatantly honest. Wolves have just been the better team here.
Which shows how poor we’ve been.

Only pieces of individual brilliance mean we’re ahead. Jonas having a great game.

  4. Simpson is really ****.
Maybe we are top 6 but we score 2 goals and Wolwes seem 3 times better than us in the game in passes we are completely dominated. We have just 2 guys completely isolated up front. We really need to improve our game, because we are almost dominated by all the teams.

  5. CC we have no attacking outlet on the right hand side with Raylor in the team. Pardew has obviously identified Jarvis as the main attacking threat…

JJ you are spot on mate, I think Wolves have out-played us for the majority of the game.

  6. Glad jonas doing o.k ,think the break did him good . I said after last game he looks really ,really tired .

  7. With a about 30 mins left , what would people do to change the game? Not watching the match so cant really say , but sounds like we need to start keeping hold of the ball more , maybe Guthrie out right? Done some decent stuff out there in the Chmapionship for us

  8. @JJ: Absolutely agree with you here. We are ahead due to individual moments of brilliance but wolves are the better team. Again opposition change tactics at the break and Pardew is still playing what we did in the first half which is not addressing the new threats or opportunities arising from the change in wolves tactics.

  9. Fancy Cisse off HBA on soon. Wolves need to have something to worry about at the other end of the field. At the minute there defence is cruising…

  10. it seems almost impossible for us to advance in the pitch with short passes. We end up all the time to Krul who threws the ball.

  11. Commentators saying we’ve been poor his half… Truth is we’ve been poor since the ten minute mark.
    Fcking pathetic display… Again.

  12. Man we are absolutely embarassing. 2-2 and Wolves are really poor. They have made us look really poor…

  13. As much as it annoys me to admit it and if I am to be brutally honest, wolves deserve to have two goals.

  14. We have been gash the whole game. We seem to be so toothless in the final third, absolutely no-one has shown any belief.

  15. I like Colo, but you need a captain that SHOUTS to drive the team on – instead of just coasting like we have since Jonas scored

  16. No manager , hopeless cause of a club and still they draw level . We need to step it up here ,very very concerned now ,its Fulham all over again.

  17. We just look clueless.

Nobody wants to get into the box. We take forever to put a cross in…
Just **** poor against relegation strugglers missing key players at you home ground…

This is why I argue we arnt good enough for top six really.

  18. This game really should of been a home banker , Cannot have any excuses for this ,tiredness cannot be cited after and what’s with the timeing of the subs 😕

      (Quote)

  19. What the hell is wrong with us man?!

Why can’t we hold onto a bloody lead or be ruthless enough to kill a game … it’s a joke this!!!

      (Quote)

  20. Ba is getting frustrated because our **** poor wide men take AGES to get the ball into the box. Exactly what I was saying this week.

Is put Fergie at left back and swap Santon to right back… Take Simpson off…
