Newcastle target hoping to sign in “days not weeks”

Debuchy looking for a way out of Lille
Mathieu Debuchy has reiterated his desire to leave Lille and hopes for a conclusion to be reached in “days and not weeks” as he looks to test himself in another league.

However he revealed that Lille are looking for a replacement before letting him go, which is frustrating the 26-year-old France international.

Newcastle and Inter Milan have both been credited with interest in Debuchy, something that he confirms below, and there has even been news of a bit from Newcastle which was rejected by the Lille board. Debuchy though is hoping that Lille are looking for a reasonable fee stating the fact that he is just a defender and probably won’t attract the huge fee that Lille are looking for.

“This is one of my priorities,” he told L’Equipe when asked about interest from Newcastle. “Inter also enquired about me,” he added as he distanced himself from a move to Inter Milan.

“Lille can refuse any insufficient offers. The clubs must reach an agreement. That is not yet the case. Newcastle have already proposed €5 million. I do not know how much the directors of Lille are seeking. I am a defender. An extraordinary offer cannot be expected.”

Debuchy then stated his desire to leave Lille and denied recent reports which suggested that he was willing to sign a contract extension at Stade Lille-Metropole.

“My wish is to leave. I want to experience another league. I recently read that I would have extended my contract until 2016. This upset me. It is not true. I hope that in the coming days, and not weeks, things will settle,” he said.

“I want to leave LOSC. The coach wants to keep me here, but I will not change my mind. I still keep that hope. I will try to go elsewhere.”

He added: “Right now I’m stuck at Lille, depending on the arrival of another player. LOSC want to find my replacement before I am released.”

“Ten, 15 players have been suggested but I am still here, and it disappoints and bothers me. It’s been 20 years that I have been here and I have never asked for anything. For once I want to discover something else.”

Sounds like this particular deal isn’t too far away from happening anyway…

  1. He’s basically telling them that he’s not happy being there and forcing their hand, which they should accept that it’s pointless keeping a player who clearly wants to try another league, (the Prem and Newcastle Hopefully)

I hope this deal goes through because that gives us an absolute cracking back line and two full backs that can bomb on up the field as well in him and Santon.

If we can snare him and Douglas, plus maybe Carroll, I think it would be excellent business this summer.

I’d really like to see this Debuchy over the line first and foremost though with any other signings as a nice tasty added bonus as long as no more players are shipped out, unless of course they are bit part players.

  2. I think this deal will run on until the last few days of the transfer window , he wants to come , but Lille want top dollar and are hoping other clubs come in for him to up the price and hope he will sign for them . Its time Ashley bid the 7 million that would close the deal and he can join up before the season begins , better for everybody .

  3. this guy is well worth 7 mil, after seeing him in action at the euro’s he would fit nicely into an attacking team, he has alot of pace and a great eye for a tackle, if we can get this guy in it will be one hell of a signing, viva la toon.

  4. sounds like Lille need to look at one or two of those 10 to 15 replacements that been suggested to them as they clearly have a restless player on their hands in Debuchy. 😉

  5. I can see tjis dragging on like last summer’s gameiro saga and then not ending up with him, this is the transger i want the most out of all the others but it looks like lille are playing hardball

  6. I still don’t like players reneging on contracts like this, but it’s the way of things, sadly.

I’d like to see him in, although I’d like to see him competing with Simmo for the spot. He may be a very exciting player, but perhaps having a comparison there may finally show how well Simmo’s done for us. Not spectacular, not flash – but well.

It was the same with Santon. Great on paper, fancy sounding name, very flash (Italian so must be good, right?) but soon shown to be very green, and suddenly Raylor wasn’t such a slouch after all. Now we have at least two good LB options.

  7. @ tutfoster. The difference with this deal is that the player actually wants to come here. I don’t think Gameiro ever wanted to join.

  8. so all this bollocks about us making a 7 m quid offer blah blah is just rubbish, we offered 5m euro ffs.. that less than we have made on the sale of forster and best… plus another million or so saved on player wages since the season finshed i reackon…i wonder what AP says is the right amount of money when he says ‘we have funds available to buy 2 or 3 top draw players without selling’…we do need to bring in 1 or 2 guys for sure, seems we wasted ages on de jong deal for no reason – all we had to do was ask him if he wanted to come to toon, he would have said no in a hot second then we could have saved all that bullshit.
Why cant we swap simmo and 4 million quid for this guy?

  9. Carroll is just another overated English striker, that only really has the ability to play ping pong with his head.

He failed at Liverpool because they didn’t play to his strengths, yet people want him back here so we can revert back to hoof ball, after we have progressed so far.

Those who think he is “better than we give him credit for” because they feel he can play a bit not just header a ball are wrong… If he could play with the ball on the deck he wouldn’t have failed at Liverpool.

He is an excellent header of the ball and has good work rate. Other than that he is average to below average in footballing terms/technique.

Not even in Ba or Cisse’s league really. Yet you want us to buy him back for 15million!!!!!!!! I’m shocked people actually rate him that highly. Surely its purely sentiment because he is a Geordie!

Also, he used to go on the **** and act like a gypsy, why would you want that back? So he can break some more jaws, sniff some more cocaine and crawl back into Colo’s house pissed?

No thanks Andy, stay were you are lad. The Bin Dippers suit you!

    Debuchy, however…

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a good professional and a right back how can actually pass ad cross the ball. I’d love it, even if we had to sacrifice a bit in defence.

  10. I can see santon being used at home where we will look to attack more but away games we will go with raylor as he holds his position better and gives us a better balance to hit teams on the counter.

Agree with an earlier post we may realise how much we depend on simmo when we have a rb who is more attack minded, which in turn gives our cb’s more to do.

      (Quote)

  11. Belter, no reason why we couldn’t play Simmon away from home with Debuchy ahead of him, and Santon on the left with Jonas ahead of him.

      (Quote)

  12. This might be a case of us trying to sell Simpson first before signing Debuchy. I hope it happens soon so he can join the lads for the last few preseason matches.

      (Quote)

  13. Well De Jong has now signed for BMG 15 million Euros ,shame i would have loved too have seen him join us but fair do’s they have CL we don’t .

      (Quote)

  14. What about a cheeky 15m bid for Sturridge instead of AC.. He would offer us something different and if we are suddenly splashing cash, I’d prefer him..
Debuchy will sign on, just need to be patient…

      (Quote)

  15. JJ it all depends on the formation because if we only play 3 in midfield then he will go with cabaye tiote and jonas. If debuchy comes in i cant see simmo staying anyways not after he played virtually every prem game last season.

      (Quote)

  16. I think it’s pretty clear that Debuchy probably won’t be playing his football in Lille next season. He’s obviously trying to force the club’s hand and get a deal pushed through, which is good news for Newcastle. Let’s just hope that they can bring in a replacement quickly so that we can agree a deal and the contract signed. Personally, I think Debuchy would be a great buy. He will offer us far more quality going forward than Danny Simpson and should provide some great ammunition for Cisse and Ba (and potentially Carroll too). It does seem like there’s a breakthrough imminent and it will be a great piece of business if he ends up on Tyneside.

Also, just wanted to mention that I’ve got a blog over at:
    http://www.extratimeandpenalties.com
I’ve just posted an article on Coloccini, which you guys might want to have a look at. Cheers!

  17. 18.. i think sturridge is total **** as well tbh mate…

and yeah, i expect they dont want simmo.. so just give the 8 million quid and be done with it then sell off simmo for 3 million.. that would give us a net outlay of zero this window to date due to best and forster sales and we will have a smaller wage bill too?

      (Quote)

  18. AUssie ive been saying that about sturridge for ages… he could play in a front three too

      (Quote)

  19. Axel
Luciano Narsingh, has got 31 assists and 13 goals for Heerenveen ad is just 21-years-old. You know anything about him?

      (Quote)

  20. Sturridge is far from ****, what he is though is very selfish. If he could rectify that and become more of a creator he would be excellent.
Oxlaide Chamberlaine has probably the most potential.

      (Quote)

  21. If you reads between lines of all reports ..fee of £7 million supposedly agreed depending on when Lille find a replacement

The lad clearly wants to come so hopefully we can get this deal done sooner(massive thanks needed to Cabaye too)

The 5 mil euros bid was our initial bid that was laughed off ( well we tried it with Cabaye and it worked 😈 )

AP said cash was there without selling ( figure mentioned £20 mil) for 3 players – Debuchy £7mil- Douglas £6-7mil- possibly Anita£6-7 mil

Cash raised from Best and Forster £5 mil + possibly £3 million for Simmo..heres hoping MA wants to spend maybe an additional £10 mil on bringing Carroll home

    Krul – Debuchy- Colo-Douglas- Santon
    HBA -Tiote-Cabaye-Marveaux
    Papis- Ba-Carroll ( 2 from 3..)

Backed up by likes of Saylor, Raylor, Jonas and youngsters hungry to make step to first XI

    Future is bright

  22. JJ
PSV agreed a fee of 4.1 million euros for him a day or 2 ago they are just waiting for him to sign the contract .Would have liked him to have join us as well .

  23. Hang on… Sturridge? People seriously want that arrogant, goal-shy turd rather than AC? I know Andy’s not exactly a sophisticate or a model of modesty, but really? What stats did Sturridge get last season anyway?

      (Quote)

  24. JJ…we were talking about Narsingh a while back, looked like he would have been a decent buy but he’s gone to PSV for 4m€ 😐

      (Quote)

  25. The gameiro comment was just an example, like I say I hope it goes through but i dont want to be hearing about it every day for the next month or so

      (Quote)

  26. Didn’t know that Liam, ****… Sturridge caused all kinds of trouble every time we played against him.. As JJ says, was a selfish git with ball at his feet.. Its all by and by anyway, we won’t spend big dollars on any striker. 🙂 🙂

      (Quote)

  27. I love it how some can have entirely different opinions on players.

    Craig – sturbridge is **** 😛
Aussie would prefer a cheeky little £15m bid in for him . 😯

No way would I pay £15m for Sturridge.

It would be my max for Carroll tho. 😉

      (Quote)

  28. Whumpie

    Sturridge – 40 starts (7 sub appearances) 13 goals and 6 assists.

Carroll – 29 starts (19 sub appearances) 10 goals and four assists.

Pretty similar stats wise, Sturridge slightly better considering he played wide left.

      (Quote)

  29. Sturridge would be a much better option for us right now…I’d prefer him for 15mil than Carroll tbh

      (Quote)

  30. Aussie ,Sturridge has said lots of times he prefers London and his wages would be an issue too I think.

      (Quote)

  31. I don’t believe we will have offered anything more than £12m £13m for Carroll so far.

Anyway Debuchy; never seen him play so I have knee high dear 😯

      (Quote)

  32. To be honest i would shaft sturridge and carroll and bring back harewood! 😆

      (Quote)

  33. And Sheffield Weds in for Barton…not quite got that Champions League club yet then Joey 😉

      (Quote)

  34. I think you have to look at the impact AC had when he came on for England. If the other players had put in the same amount of effort we’d have done a lot better. He played like he used to for us: constant threat, great tracking back and defending, bullying the bejeesus out of defenders.

We don’t have anyone like that right now. Admittedly, we don’t have a small, quick striker like Sturridge either. The key questions are: Do Chelski want shot of Sturridge, and does Sturridge desperately want to play for the Toon?

    Of course not.

Can’t see us paying more than £13m for Carroll though – but a loan deal with a fixed price buy option above that price? Possibly. That’s what I think we’re going to see. A fee plus some of his wages and an option to buy at about £14m. That way Ashley’s got all his bases covered. If he doesn’t return to his old form, we just send him back.

      (Quote)

  35. According to SSN Andy Carroll does NOT want to leave Liverpool and is only reluctantly agreeing to a loan deal , but the Dippers only want to sell now.So much for reports of in the know persons saying and tweeting that he’s desperate to come home. 😉

      (Quote)

  36. On skysports David Craig has revealed he has spoken to AC representatives and he doesn’t want a permanent move anywhere and wants to stay at Liverpool – if that’s the case we need to move onto another target IMO

      (Quote)

  37. Troy, would Carroll start for us if he signs and we keep the current squad intact? Yes or no, it’s not that hard… give it a go, try answering

      (Quote)

  38. Aye Kimtoon we should move on now if that’s true. All these pathetic tw@ts on twitter who claim to be Carroll’s mates LOL

      (Quote)

  39. Cant actually believe people thought carroll was reaally coming back anyway 🙄

      (Quote)

  40. If Joey goes to Wednesday I may laugh so hard I’ll lose control of bladder function. 😆

      (Quote)

  41. Well done Lez, at least you could answer a simple question, it seems beyond the Troyster 🙂 🙂

      (Quote)

  42. Liam – I can’t believe you believe that latest bit of tripe from the press. There are so many layers of chinese whisper and spin in that report that it’s laughable. All you can go on is known facts and your own deductions, and for me it’s still likely. We know the new Bindipper in Chief wants shot. We know AC’s a Mag at heart. We know NUFC want him. What’s hard to believe?

      (Quote)

  43. Of coarse Carroll will publicly say he wants to stay with Liverpool, he said the same thing about Newcastle just before he ****** off 🙂 🙂 history repeats itself:-)

      (Quote)

  44. Maybe he feels he HAS to say that so as not to get the boos from the Kop when he returns with Toon 😉

      (Quote)

  45. If we want another striker then Toivonen from PSV would be a good signing and half the price of Carroll , His temprement needs working on but lets face it Carroll’s did / does as well . Toivonen is a better all round footballer and can play as a CF or drop in behind a striker . The lad has made it clear he wants a move away to a bigger league as well .

      (Quote)

  46. Aussie, hate to **** on yer barbie, mate (I hear she likes that) but you do know we’re in the Europa league now, don’t you?

So the answer to your question is: sometimes. If Cisse and Ba both played two days ago, would you start AC ahead of one of them? Of course!

      (Quote)

  47. I see Chelski have signed Oscar that’s £60m they have splashed out so far 😯 Think we must have given them and Arsenal one hell of a fright last season the way they are spending 😆 Also getting in quick befor FIFA FAIR PLAY rules kick in. 😉

      (Quote)

  48. Whumpie – i have never believed he is coming 😀
Im happy to be proven wrong however….

      (Quote)

  49. Whumpie, it is a legit question mate, I am interested in hearing Troy’s view… there is no right or wrong answer…. only just heard about the euro thing just then when you mentioned it, when did that happen 🙂

      (Quote)

  50. Carroll’s agent saying he doesn’t want to leave permantly is probably because he knows Newcastle only want an initial loan deal. Could Carroll be force Liverpool into a corner?

      (Quote)

  51. AC and his agent have to cover all eventualities. Can’t be seen to be doing what that Judas Andy Carroll did to Newc… oh, wait… 🙄
