Transfer Wrap – January 2015

Well here we go again, no new players in and a heap of fringe players out. These transfer windows are no longer a source of potential excitement as we wait for new players to be signed. Actually, they are less like a window and more like an exit door at the moment. Most of the younger players we have loaned out have been no where near the first team this season so if they get first team action at Rangers it can only be a good thing as far as I am concerned. The lack of incoming players has always been a source of frustration and anger and that is set to continue as the season enters it’s later stages. For the record here is what transpired for all clubs.

Well there it is.. One thing that stands out is that clubs seem to be shedding a lot of players to lower division English clubs and abroad. It’s interesting to see Spurs and Liverpool were also clubs not to open the cheque book this window. Maybe the financial fairplay rules are having an effect??

Anyway, it is as you were (minus a few players) for Newcastle and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. We can only hope that we are not hit with too many injuries over the last stretch of games. We have Abied, Aarons and DeJong on the cusp of being fit enough to get a start in the first team again so there is a sliver of light at the the end of the tunnel.

  1. I’ve just been reading about Clarke Carlisle was well. Poor fella, I can’t ever imagine being in a position where throwing yourself infront of a fast moving lorry is your best or only option.

  2. I don’t know why Rangers fans would be pissed off by Ashley in particular; they must have plenty of other people to blame for their situation. As far as I can see, Ashley hasn’t actually had an effect on the team, until now perhaps – and even that may not be a bad thing given their circumstances.

  3. Sharpy – I think that’s the point of this surge in talking about depression. They say it can happen to anyone just like getting flu or any other disease. Clearly people aren’t thinking straight when they feel ending it all is the only way out… I once found a man unconscience hanging himself and it wasn’t a pleasant experience but what was worse was that when he got better he didn’t thank me at all for helping him. Maybe he was pissed off I found him and got him chopped down…

But for the grace of God and all that…

  4. Our best man took his own life. Car fumes was his choice of suicide, he was a brilliant chemist and lovely person, he was just 25 and we never saw it coming.

      (Quote)

  5. Our Hazel went to a funeral last week, it was her blokes mate, another suicide, took his life just after new year.

  6. Stu – I swear this is a true story, but I’ve got a mate who’s a copper. He finished a night shift and driving home in the morning a lass jumped in front of his car. He managed to miss her and got hold of her until a couple of coppers turned up to take her to hospital to be mentally assessed – he went home and slept before another night shift. He went back in that night and his first job was a female who had jumped off a viaduct – same girl.

  7. For Stoke game:

    ——————-Krul—————–
    -Janmaat-Willo-Colo-Haidara–
    ————Abeid–Colback——-
    —————-Sissoko————–
    —–Ayoze—————Cabella–
    —————–Sammy————–
-Bench: GK, Good/Satka, Dummett, Anita, Obertan, de Jong, Cissé

      (Quote)

  8. It is not that bad of a team with Dummett instead of Williamson and somehow adding a fit de Jong. Sammy and Aarons would be good impact sub’s.

  9. Are my eyes deceiving me? Ashley went on that diet then put it all back on again plus a couple of stone for good luck!

  10. Cheeses. It looks like it was suicide watch last night. 😯
On that note, has anyone seen Aussie since he sulked off cos Stuart said he didn’t contribute to the blog when it came to debates. 😯

The Rangers fans can look at the toon situation from a different perspective and can see the long term under Ashley is worse than the short term of continuing to hope a real football man takes over. 🙄

This a crucial time in the century long history of a Scottish giant which represents protestants and Glasgow worldwide. They don’t want to accept Ashley just to turn it into another SD advert board like NUFC.

It beggars belief how this clear point goes whizzing over your head.

  12. Haha. I’ve just reread Stuarts post. Stuart to be fair to Brett, that does need clarifying. A hair stylist?

Ive tried typing barber and predictive text doesn’t change it to hair stylist.

I can’t let you off the hook with this one Stuart. Hair stylist? 😆

      (Quote)

  13. Stuart
Can we also clarify whether your hair stylist jumped off the bridge immediately following styling your hair or was it totally unconnected incident. ? 😯

Sorry Stuart. You are my football ally but this issue needs addressing. 😆

      (Quote)

  14. Maybe he asked for a Dutch mullet and his stylist gave him a Gullit, he came out looking like a Rastafarian 😆

Do men really use stylists, fair enough in the 80’s perm days but what now..? the mind is on over drive to what Stu’s hairs like 😆

      (Quote)

  15. Haha. Stuart has to come on shortly to stop the speculation. It might even draw Aussie out of his amazingly long huff. 😛

      (Quote)

  16. What’s the problem? When I have my hair cut it gets styled also. Nothing flash, just a style. Most people have a style. Some just a simple bowl cut which I imagine Gashley has and others have a more stylish style like me.

      (Quote)

  17. lol I’s quite suite a bowl cut.

Troy has a Lawro cut. Pulled forward from the neck line to give the illusion he has some hair 😆

      (Quote)

  18. Brett I’m ganna bar you from looking at my Facebook pictures.

    Stuart
As I need you as a football ally, I will not pursue the hair stylist remark. If it was Brett who had said it, I would be relentless in finding out what your barnet looks like.

However, I will be keeping an eye out, next time in toon for slick 80’s throwback, shouting Stuart and the one that turns around will be troyed! Woo hooo hoo 😀

      (Quote)

  19. Haha. 😛

We’ll have to stop before the whiners complain we are bullying and spoiling the blog.

Begas answer my question at 318 NOW!!!!!! 👿

      (Quote)

  20. Yes please stop Troy or I will take my bat and ball home and not come on again. Or is that only our Antipidean brothers who are like that… ❓

      (Quote)

  21. deary deary me

it’s ok for troy to talk hairstyles on a footy blog but not for icedog to talk about tv deals.

    it’s a case of – do as i say & not as i do.

by the way – is stardust still sporting comb-over ?

My banter was about having a laugh. Ice’s is about having a cosy chat at love in time post 10pm. 😉

You have to admit, having a hair stylist does make you wonder what Stuart actually looks like. 😀

      (Quote)

  23. It goes over my head because I couldn’t possibly understand such a sophisticated argument. 🙄

      (Quote)

  24. I can’t see Jonas or Ryan being offered new contracts in the summer so that saves even more money for the summer while we differ around searching for a head coach. Mbiwa, Arfa and Santon must be saving the club 150k a week not to mention the transfer fee’s on top. Freeing up wages for the next manager probably isn’t a bad idea.

      (Quote)

  25. Terry Id bring Raylor back on reasonable wages as he can cover a few spots, provide leadership, and help with our home grown quota. But yeah theyll have some wages and spots on the 25 man squad cleared to add a few this summer.

      (Quote)

  26. Begas

Do you acknowledge that Ashley is not good for football as he is only using our club as an advertising board for SD and shows no interest in trying to make our club reach its potential?

If the answer to that is yes, then do you not understand why the Rangers fans are fighting furiously to ensure that a football man takes over their club instead of Ashley?

      (Quote)

  27. We have to keep Raylor imo, he always gives 100% and is a great utility player. That last game before he got injured again, he was outstanding, especially given how long he’d been out .

      (Quote)

  28. MDS It all hinges on how well Ryan does now until the end of the season. I just think if he comes back again for two games and gets injured then his finished. I’m not knocking the fact that his a good player and has done very well recovering from his injury.

      (Quote)

  29. I can’t see many managers or owners especially like ours paying Ryan Taylor that much when most of the time his injured. Defiantly a good player on his day.

      (Quote)

  30. Raylor was doing a bit of scouting while out injured, wouldn’t mind seeing him stay on in that capacity or even coaching .

      (Quote)

  31. Kim and Munich Mag I always thought very highly of Woodgate and would love to see someone like him in our defence again. I spend most of my time reminiscing about the old newcastle before Ashley come along.

      (Quote)

  32. whereas I appreciate all that Ryan Taylor did for the club as a player, I can’t see us extending his contract, and rightly so.

      (Quote)

  33. Tel, Woodgate was an excellent centre half, he just played far too few games for the toon tbh.. However I still stand by my claim he was a better defender than Collo…

Reminiscences are all you have left mate, because with Mediocre United we’re going nowhere…

      (Quote)

  34. I watched just call me Bobby on dvd the other day. It made me sad a little bit because we at least challenged to be a top 4 side and win a cup in those days.

      (Quote)

  35. Munich Mag it’s really does upset me seeing what Ashley has done to this great club. My dream is to wake up one morning and hear the news that his gone.

      (Quote)

  36. Terry, I share your disappointment mate. It’s a real pity that we are owned by the cheapest and thriftiest Billionaire in football… the bloke is a scandal, ripping the heart out of the club and with it the geordie identity and community.

Imagine how much good will and excitement he could generate by investing 50 million or so in new players, even a hundred million. It’s a drop in the ocean for the bloke. He would only be spending the money coming in from the tv sponsors anyway…ffs how much money does one person need ? 🙄

      (Quote)

  37. Personally think we should be looking at better than Raylor. He’s had a lot of tough injuries too so he’s not going to be as good as he was before I personally think.

      (Quote)

  38. Stewie I’m looking for better players for us all the time mate. I’m looking for men with the desire and guts of honey badgers!!! I’ll let you know how it goes. It’s an exciting prospect isn’t it?

      (Quote)

  39. MM getting Ashley to spend anything would be considered a miracle. I dont think his spent a single penny in five years and amazingly we are still in the premiership. As long as we are stronger than the three team’s that win promotion Ashley is happy.

      (Quote)

  40. Ashley was probably brought up not to waste a single penny or leave anything on his dinner plate. If something out of date in the fridge he will eat it rather than waste money in the supermarket.

      (Quote)

  41. Stuart79, As long as he is fit, he has a role to play, he does not lack of talent and intelligence, and he has a positive influence when he plays. To replace him, Daniel Wass would be a better version of Raylor with more pace, great set piece abilities, and versatily that makes him a complete midfielder. Could also replace Sissoko if he leaves

      (Quote)

  42. Munich Mag, I agree on that, Woodgate is the best defender we’ve had, followed by Coloccini, what a defense those 2 wouldve been at their prime
