Game On! Leicester Vs Newcastle United

Leicester_City_v_Newcastle_United_Match_Preview_FTWelcome one and all to this ‘Game On’ article which will take us through the highs and lows as we travel to the King Power Stadium for today’s Premier league game (12.45 kick-off), to face the in-form Leicester City in what head coach John Carver has dubbed “the biggest game of the weekend.” Leicester have won four of their last five games only failing to the the Premier League Champions elect Chelsea on Wednesday night after taking the lead at the King Power Stadium and having a go at them but eventually suffering a 3-1 defeat.
John Carver and first team coach Steve Stone were in the stands for that game, watching Leicester in action, and were impressed by what they saw.
“If I’m perfectly honest out of the next four games, I think this is going to be one of the toughest,” said Carver.
“Me and Steve Stone travelled down to watch them against Chelsea and the atmosphere was incredible, so we’ll have to deal with that.
“Leicester were very well organised, very strong and a big physical side but they did run out of steam a little bit.
“We have to make sure we stay in the game. They’re very tight and they work extremely hard. They’ll put us under pressure and not give us a minute on the ball.
“But because of their work rate they tire, and we must use that to our advantage.”
Following their recent haul of 12 points, Leicester have climbed out of the relegation zone and currently sit just three points behind the Magpies going into Saturday’s fixture.
“Nigel (Pearson) has done a remarkable job,” Carver added, about his opposite number.
“Four weeks ago his team weren’t even in the hunt to stay in this league but he has turned that around.
“This is certainly the biggest game of the weekend – it’s huge for both sides for different reasons. The important thing is we need to get a result because we all know what run we are in at the moment and that needs to end.”
I just hope we stop the rot and stop breaking records.

  3. Well I watched the build up, but decided to take the boy & pooch to the park when I saw that line up. Best idea I had this year I reckon. I’d only be sat shouting at the TV and spoiling a bank holiday weekend.

  6. I don’t know why everyone is upset – I am chuffed to bits lads. Lets be sit and think for a second on it… we support NUFC. Not the PREM and Not Ashley. Why do we want to even entertain the idea of staying in the prem at this time and with this owner? To make him even more money and to let him treat Newcastle City (not just the club) with utter contempt? Knowing that if we go down that he will loose millions upon millions year after year until we are sold is good enough for me to grin from ear to ear. We need to be relegated and we need to stay down until fat man is long gone. Our entire football club and the city as a whole need the reset button pressed. We will never see that if we stay in the premiership. He makes way too much money from it to ever sell. I vote for relegation. Sometimes in life you need to take a step back to go a step forward.

  7. Craig, tell me what makes you think getting relegated is the answer, Ashley will still not sell, and we have no Nolan or Barton to get us back up this time.

      (Quote)

  8. Craig – we wont get relegated, regardless the result today.
you will not get your wish
The bloated maggot has already worked it all out.
He knows we are safe so isn’t fazed by it

  9. CC@89, you could be onto something there…

At the same time the players have been absolutely twatful today…that first 2 minutes of the game today was an absolute embarrasment. Has it ever happened in the history of football that you start the ball with a kick off, and LOSE posession within 10 seconds, and are a goal down so quickly ?
If you have docile knackers in the team it is unavoidable…Ashley or no Ashley..

  10. Come on guys, if you were a toon player and listening to all of the **** coming out of Carvers mouth, would you play to win, he might just get the job and ‘think on that’. Its a players Master Plan.

  11. Final score will be probably 3-1, Troy.

Which of my factual comments have upset some people on here? Would be interested to know why people get upperty when all I have done is give facts.

  12. Hats off to McManaman and Savage steaming into Newcastle there at half time. The problem is that the team can’t do any better than this. This is the best the toon can do with substandard players who aren’t up for the fight.

  13. Well the two fans chat with the players yesterday have done the world of good, as for Carver, please give him the job, then I have a genuine reason for stopping DD for next seasons Season Ticket. – IMPERSONATION = FRAUD

  14. I don’t think Derby are making the Play offs. Give Schteve a call! Can he do any worse?

      (Quote)

  15. Toby: I said that above. The problem is we have to play against another team, players and manager on a saturday. Our lot playing each other in training cancel each other out since we can neither score or defend – stalemate guaranteed which Ugly John thinks is a result.

  16. The fans that fill fatties bank balance then give it the big “I told you so”….now that really is deluded… 😀 😀 😀 😀

    Wehey …..all aboard for Trumpton 😆 😆 toot toot… 🙂

  17. We can only count of the holy power of the Number 9 the remaining fixtures. 😐 😆 😆

  18. Eric Sykes@102, when Riviere comes up against Willo in training during the week he probably does feel as if he is making the grade 😆 😆

Love Perez by the way, the bloke is a star…

  19. Watching the game on BT Sport – and I’m actually agreeing with Robbie Savage and Steve Mmnamhna for the first time ever FFS. Shocking.

    How low can we go.

      (Quote)

  20. At least we always start well! Riviere is so so poor it’s unbelievable he’s got a contract

      (Quote)

  21. If Carver is a man of honour he will resign his post and then Charnley should go and get McClaren tomorrow morning if he is who they have ear marked.

      (Quote)

  22. Georgio, it isn’t Riviere, Gouffron, Williamson, Raylor or anyones fault. The issue is that these players shouldn’t really be playing for the toon…they are just not good enough.

      (Quote)

  23. And we expect this team to beat wbrom without cisse 😯
    Should be 4……. So easy

      (Quote)

  24. Oh and we now have the worst defence in the PL! What a great decision it was to let two international defenders leave in January…

Jabba, you are reaping what you have sowed. We will be the richest club in the Championship.

  25. hello hello
is there anybody out there ?
Just nod if you can hear me

ffs there’s more goals still to come for Leicester here
    hopeless bunch of wasters

      (Quote)

  26. @Gashley, I thought Cisse is available is for next game onwards.. Unless he isn’t match fit… 😳 😳

      (Quote)

  27. not so Stuart… we are not rich – our debt has doubled under Ashley with the value and revenue falling.

      (Quote)

  28. Please we have seen Raylor waste 6 dead balls now. Why doesn’t Dummet take an inswinging corner ? 😆 😆

    Laughable 😆 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  29. I hope Leicester make it 6 or 7 nil myself. We’ve lost the game, may as well get truly humiliated.

      (Quote)

  30. BB: what were you saying to me this morning about laying off Ugly John 🙂

      (Quote)

  31. Here’s my predicition that we won’t see Cisse play again this season in a black and white strip 😉

      (Quote)

  32. I agree Sharpy…what we need is an humiliating loss.. like 12 nil or something. That would give us great global headlines in every country in the world.. I would love that negative FREE advertising.

      (Quote)

  33. Stuart

You’re right. Someone else needs bringing in immediately to inspire us to get at least a point.

3 games left. Drastic action is needed now. Unless we get 3 goals and keep a clean sheet for 30 mins.

      (Quote)

  34. But let’s not forget the irony of getting McClaren… They have finished 8th in the PL!

Oh and that about sums it up. A club that is dead top to bottom.

      (Quote)

  35. What an ugly tackle from Williamson. The bloke should be fined a months wages for that. What a fool… down to 10 men 😕

      (Quote)

  36. Willo has a walnut where his brain should be.

    Raylor isn’t even that gifted.

      (Quote)

  37. WIllo off, that’s the 2nd Master Plan for Carver, “It was a case of damage limitation when we went down to 10”

Carver you muppet, Mike Dean is top of the pops for Yellows and
Reds – did you not tell your troops that.

      (Quote)

  38. I’ve never ever thought this before but I genuinely believe they players just do not want to play for Carver. There is no other reason why players would be this bad. It is quite incredible.

The fans should storm the pitch and do a Blackpool.

      (Quote)

  39. Well at least that red should mean we will never see willo in a nufc shirt again 3 game ban coming up

      (Quote)

  40. I hope we don’t get a free kick
we wont know what to do with it
