Is it a case of deja vu?

426-newcastle--124324593813139800I don’t know what’s worse at the moment, the pain in my knee or the pain in my heart. As I sat perched with outstretched leg watching that mess of a team play Leicester I felt physically sick. The lack of endeavour, the total lack of discipline and awareness was simply astounding. I said it last week and I will repeat it again, they are not pulling their weight and it’s not good enough. To lose the ball from the first kick and contrive collectively to concede in the first 30 seconds is pathetic and must have left John Carver shell shocked. And you knew, just knew it was game over from that point on, because this lot have no heart or guts for the fight, it’s that simple. Carver is flogging a dead horse at the moment or should that be donkey? Either they have collectivly gone already or they don’t want to play for him. There is talent in the squad but for what ever reason it’s not showing right now. Sissoko, Janmaat, Krul, Perez and Colback are all capable of pulling us out the muck, yet just aren’t performing and we have to assume they either can’t be bothered or Carver is not getting things right. I don’t think Mike Ashley can afford to let this slide a day longer, he HAS to bring in another coach now, if only for a shot in the arm and kick up the players backside before it’s too late.
Let’s face it, if we go down there will be no swift return this time, the likes of Sissoko, Perez, Janmaat, Cisse, Krul, Tiote and De Jong will not fancy Championship football and will all want out. So too would Cabella and young Aarons, the latter already eyed up by Premier league clubs prior to his never ending injury.
As I type this it’s reported Carver has told a bbc presser that he thinks Mike Williamson got his self red carded on purpose! Well if he hadn’t lost the dressing room he surely has now. Much as I don’t rate big Mike, you don’t EVER come out with that in a post match presser. If true though, then I hope the lad has played his last game for us.
We are falling apart like a cheap piece of tat from one of Ashleys shops and frankly our owner deserves nothing less than relegation, we fans on the other hand do not and for that reason I hope we survive this crisis.
Reports are coming in that Steve Mclaren is talking to his bosses in light of not reaching the playoffs and interest from Newcastle. It’s looking like we could yet see him in the Newcastle dug out next week.
With Saints and Everton both failing to give us a helping hand today those fans of Villa who happily waved us goodbye have leap frogged us in the league and our rivals Sunderland have made serious strides on us and now are only 2 points behind us with a game in hand. Frankly, lads and lasses, it don’t look good at all.
This season is very reminiscent of the 08/09 relegation season, with us seemingly safe but then drifting after losing our manager, going on an awful run and ending with a Geordie trying to save us. We had a glut of red cards in the last 4 games for Barton, Bassong and Edgar, like now with our present lads and signed a duff in Xisco (see Riviere) and a strange loanee in Ignucio Gonzalez (see Chucky). We had a captain in Owen who wanted away with his management producing a 34 page booklet of his highlights to show interested clubs, just like our current captain Colo who left us ages back truth be told. Finally and perhaps most chilling of all, the team we lost to on the final day of the season played in claret and blue, you have to agree there’s a real sense of deja vu going on.

  1. Yes I have! We stay away! We boycott again, only more than the previous game. Jabba will be relying on us to turn up and roar the team on to stop us getting relegated. He thinks the fans want us in the PL regardless. Well I say, hammer the final nail in the big fat bastards coffin by showing him we are prepared to take some short term pain for the long term gain. **** him!

We have the power and it’s time to show it!

  2. Sorry Stu, it’s pretty clear that most of us aren’t as cool about relegation as you are.

My idea is unleash killer Ashington- born moles under the West Brom penalty area…

  4. GTE – That’s because most don’t have my foresight and stomach for a long battle.

We have our foot on his throat and now is the time to push down harder. He needs to go and then the club can breath again and start to dream.

  9. Doubters gonna doubt!

You will see, I am right about most things on this blog and if we go down it will make Ashley think about his investment and/or how he runs the club.

      (Quote)

  10. we will be stuck with fatboy alot longer if we get relegated,no1 will pay the money hes ganna want to buy them if ya a champship side then he will have the excuse of staying longer, has longer to cream money of the club with the excuse he aint going to get his money back if he sells

      (Quote)

  11. dont need to see ya just got to put ya brain in gear and think it though

  12. Funny that. That’s what most people have said to me over the past 7 years when I have commented on NUFC and Ashley.

But put it like this; He won’t want the hassle of having a toxic asset. He will know he’s got it wrong and he will also know the way he wants to run a football club isn’t compatible with PL football. Fans in open revolt, gates of less than 25,000 and just grief, grief and more grief. Plus the thought of throwing good money after bad which the club would need after a season or two and he will cut his losses. He’s lost more money than he’d lose on NUFC in other businesses so it wouldn’t be a total shock.

So now you have the rational side of things, you just need to put your brain in gear…

  13. i think ‘he’s staying at derby’ link is from yesterday but appeared on newsnow this afternoon.

TBH I hope he doesnt come as its more of the same, we’re not getting anywhere. My hope is we pick up a win and others don’t.

Start again next season with Ashley making amends with a decent coach.

  15. GTE – When did I say that? I think you’ll find when all around me wanted Pardew out I, along with Troy quite simply said there’s no point in sacking Pardew as we won’t get anyone better. Thing you’ve got that the wrong way round, pal.

  18. So what happens when we’re in the same position this time next year after Fatty’s **** ups and lack of any investment and ambition? what then? Do we just keep letting him run the club like Sports Direct and come to the rescue in the final few games of every season?

On your point about giving up. The player have already clearly given up so that doesn’t stack up.

      (Quote)

  19. maybe the team might be giving up because of the boycott you ever think of that stu

      (Quote)

  20. Just remind me when the boycott started again? Think it was against Spurs wasn’t it? Yeah it was. We were on a losing run of 5 consecutive games at that point. Can we blame the fans for the previous 5 defeats before the boycott?

Some people on here just do not put their brain into gear 😯

  21. be very carefull what ya wish for stu cause the likey hood is its ganna come back to bite ya in the **** for years to come.you really think we ganna come straight back up lol we could be in the wildness for years to come doing it your way and defo agree with ya some peeps just dont put there brain into gear 😆

  22. One of Two things will happen if we went down;

    1) Jabba would stick around to get us back up (and I believe if that happened he would change his Modus Oparandi)
    2) He would sell up and someone with a lot of money would buy us for a good price and they would supply the funds required to get us back up. If indeed that was even required.

We are just nothing like a Leeds or a Portsmouth.

      (Quote)

  23. I haven’t been to a home match in years, partly out of protest, but from what I hear the atmosphere at SJP has been ***** all season (can’t blame the fans on what’s served up) but any notion that we could lift the team to a win is misplaced imo. Seems like its up to the gods. I can’t believe they haven’t put Carver out of his misery though. Still, I do think he should be man enough to say he can’t do the job and walk, totally different scenario to pards.

      (Quote)

  24. change his Modus Oparandi eh like he did the last time we went down ya mean

      (Quote)

  25. whats worth more when you go to sell it stu a prem team or a champship team

      (Quote)

  26. the first time could be dismissed as a one off fluke but if we go down again that will be two relegations and a 17th place finish in the last 5 PL seasons. He’s many things, but stupid isn’t one of them. He will know that his way of running a football club just isn’t possible.

If this was Sports Direct and their profits went down 3 out of 5 years, he would do something and change it. He will do the same here in my opinion or he will sell up.

      (Quote)

  27. You are completely missing the point! Why would he want to sell the club in the PL? He gets all the benefits and he’s not arsed as long as he doesn’t have to put money in its no bother. His free advertising, the club ticking along picking up the TV money with no worries. That all changes with relegation.

As for the transfer window. Well let’s look at it. We have £30m in the bank, parachute payments and whatever we would get from selling Krul, Cisse, Sissoko and Tiote. That would be enough to buy promotion back to the PL. Piece of ****!

      (Quote)

  28. I see the French press are now ripping into the toon:why would any french player want to join the toon they don’t want to win anything or try to win anything,we have known that for years

      (Quote)

  29. why would he want to sell a prem team err causes its worth more no brainer like ya said yaself hes many things but not stupid

      (Quote)

  30. Or, we have, as Chris G has pointed out, £20m left in the bank, money on from sales, but vastly reduced revenues, so Jabba just uses that cash to avoid having to add £30m to his loan to the club, fails to find a buyer on his terms, and meanwhile we have to scrap in a challenging division with a few kids and some proven gutless professionals.

      (Quote)

  31. so after thinking that 1 though stu you really think hes ganna sell a champship team

      (Quote)

  32. I don’t think you get this. In the PL he gets all the benefits that he wants free of charge without hassle. Simple really. Nobody will pay £300m for a PL team these days. He gets all the advertising he wants for nothing! If we go down he gets lots of hassle, open revolt by the supporters and the thought that he MAY have to put more money into the club. The one thing he just does not want to do! He doesn’t need the hassle and cutting his losses may well be something he looks at as a sensible option.

It’s not rocket science, although I feel like I am explains that to a child.

      (Quote)

  33. so knowing how greedy fatboy is you still think hes ganna cut his loses lol

      (Quote)

  34. But GTE why would Ashley want that hassle? Supporters wouldn’t be turning up, no guarantee of promotion without spending money and for what? For his failed model to go through it all again in 3 years time if we get promoted? Oh and forget what Chris said because that was a year ago, so there’s a lot more money in the bank account now.

      (Quote)

  35. What we all have to understand is that Stu has that special foresight denied to the rest of us, so that he is ALWAYS right, hence rather than debating opinions, he can just call everyone else thick (except Troy, whose approval he so clearly seeks)

      (Quote)

  36. why aint any1 ganna pay 300 million for a prem team when the tv money gos up to 130 million 300 million sounds a bit cheap to me for a prem ship team and also feel over here im explaining something to a child

      (Quote)

  37. Do you think Mike Ashley has never in his entire history lost money in business? His worth went down by £1b at one point so losing money on a business venture isn’t totally alien to him. He will look at the long term picture like anyone with half a brain would.

By the way, I’m not saying this will happen, but I honestly believe we have a better chance of him cutting his losses and selling up if we get relegated than being in the PL. I just honestly don’t believe he will want the hassle and there will be open revolt amongst the fans so it will be very hard for him to stick around without any fans.

  38. he lost a billion cause of the recession is there another 1 comeing stu

      (Quote)

  39. GTE – You haven’t mentioned your **** up above about me. Wonder why? You will struggle to find a time when I have been proved wrong when it comes to NUFC under Ashley. You did try with your wrong comment about Pardew, so try again.

      (Quote)

  40. TAE – He lost a fortune on HBOS shares after the recession. Next! He’s lost a fortune on Tesco. Next…

      (Quote)

  41. But why would he want to seek the club in the PL? Are you not reading what I am typing? He has everything he wants in the PL without any grief whatsoever

      (Quote)

  42. could he have put it right at tesco i think not could he put it right with keeping the toon and just doing enough to get us back in the prem i think so but that way we ganna be stuck with him a lot longer can ya not see that

      (Quote)

  43. “Most don’t have my foresight and stomach”…”you will struggle to find a time when I have been proven wrong”…

Stu, I don’t care whether you’re always right or not, it’s just irritating when any poster, (well, you and Troy are the only two) only comes on to prove that they are right and tries to grind down all other voices, rather than coming on to listen to a range of views.

      (Quote)

  44. I’m listening to your views, GTE. I just happen to thing the most likely way of getting rid of him is if we’re in the Fizzy. I think my reasoning above is pretty sensible and rational.

TAE – To change it here, he would have to change his ethos. As I said already, he may well do that. He is not going to continue to do the same thing when it is clearly not working. Can you not see that?

      (Quote)

  45. Unfortunately I get the feeling your just not even entertaining the rational I am suggesting here only because it’s me and for some reason you don’t like that fact I have a different view on things. Plus it irritates people that I’m right in most cases.

      (Quote)

  46. yeah i can see what you trying to say but ya wrong and your way we stuck with the fat git longer

      (Quote)

  47. Well I’m glad you know for sure I’m wrong. I still haven’t seen your rationale as to why you think it’s more likely he will sell if we’re in the PL but don’t worry about that, I will assume you don’t have a rationale.

  53. We won’t know that for a few months yet if course.

I think you’ll find you are lying down and dying. You’re letting Ashley do what ever he wants and you still want to go to the game and support him. The team is the same as him I’m afraid. Every time you go he sees it as vindication. Don’t go, boycott and let him know you’re not a soft touch. Somehow I think you’ll be there on Saturday watching a team not fit for purpose due to Ashley’s MO lose again and he will think you’re a mug!

  54. Newkie@253, ask Stuart79 or Troy about the atmosphere at St James’ Park mate. They are season ticket holders and know first hand.

      (Quote)

  55. But you’re entitled to do that of course. I won’t slag anyone off for going to the games but I, like many others don’t think there’s anything left to do other than stop going. He ain’t got a football club without supporters and his investment is worthless then!

      (Quote)

  56. Stu – good on Mc I say. He’s basically laid down the gauntlet to Ashley there hasn’t he? – ‘until I’m told otherwise, I’m under contract’. He’s basically saying, if you want me then sort out compo with Derby & come and get me.

      (Quote)

  57. McClaren and Ashley is a marriage made in heaven.
The mighty Boro had some of there most fruitful years when McClaren worked hand in hand with their excellent owner. The owner put the money in and McClaren managed the footy side excellently. McClaren served his time under Fergie, managed England, knows the German and Dutch leagues, and is ready to try his hand at one of the biggest jobs in English football.
Ashley will leave him in peace to carry on with the project. McClaren is schooled and thick skinned enough to handle the demanding Geordie public. He will be sure that every angle is covered so there are no surprises when he does turn up. We all know the owner is a man of his word and can be trusted. McClaren is the man to take us to the next stage… 😎

      (Quote)

  58. How do people still attend games knowing Fatty is blatantly laughing at us?

what does he have to do before the penny drops. I reckon if he wore a t-shirt with ‘Thick Geordie twats, thanks for the cash!’ people would still go.. ‘because they support the team’ well because of Ashley, there is no team to support as the team doesnt support your dreams..

      (Quote)

  59. What is Ashley’s record with management hirings? Abysmal. There is no possibility of the club getting better with Ashley at the top. Look back at the list of people he has hired. Pathetic. He wants the real power to remain with him yet he is clueless about football. This is all we will ever get with Ashley. One disaster after another. The “we’re sorry, we realize mistakes have been made” statements are useless. Sell now Ashley.

      (Quote)

  60. What is a football club run by Ashley anyway? It’s a pile of soiled cat litter. It’s the sight of Ashley heading for the basement of the castle to avoid being interviewed. It’s John Carver’s next team talk. It’s a pile of bollocks.

      (Quote)

  61. his investment is worthless then!<<<< stu sorry am pissing meself laughing ,what investment ,he is making tens of millions as you know bleeding the club dry 😉 and thats not a dig at you mate .
