  1. If Charlie Austin goes to Chelsea he will join. Long list of players who ruin their career for the money! He won’t ever get a game apart from Carling cup and the odd sub appearance. He could go to us or West Ham or Leicester and I’d have a lot more respect for him.

  2. Well seems we have made our first signing,a 19 yr young kid from Northhamton three hundred thousand 🙁

  3. So Moyes has signed a young kid (19) that had a look round SJP Concha rated a real good player,so we miss out again

  4. This is from our ‘preferred media partner’

“But the Magpies have now swooped for the promising forward, and he is expected to become Steve McClaren’s first signing as Newcastle boss if the £300,000 deal can be confirmed before the arrival of Georginio Wijnaldum.”

    Wijnaldum? 🙁 😯 🙁

  5. Looks like we have given up on Austin as we have bid 10 mil for Rodan so say French press

  6. stuart79@320, your 2 pound a month to go with the other 50,000 masochists, sounds like a serious amount of money in one year if you ask me . 😉

  7. TAE – If we sign him I will quite possibly allow Mike Ashley to make me a cup of tea

  8. I wish the Rolan link was earlier I would have paid closer attention in the Copa America. Get a couple of good players in before the US tour and I will be a lot happier. There really does have to be stuff going on behind the scenes, they can’t be that stupid and they can’t be putting all of their eggs in the Charlie Austin basket.

Copa America final in a few minutes. Heard we are scouting a couple of players there, Vidal and Messi I think their names are.

At the moment, Newcastle’s offer is neither concrete nor acceptable to Bordeaux, according to the report.

Newcastle are in negotiations with Bordeaux over the possible signing of Diego Rolan, according Sud Ouest. They’re offering around €15m.

  10. Same here Ice, or one of each. Just watched Rolan video. Learnt a few things about him:

He’s a Fox in the box. Just need players capable of supplying him…
    He is religious.
    He steals other people’s goals.
He is a good dancer. Think Roger Milla.
Strangely, he scores every goal in exactly the same way at least 3 times in a row…

  11. SHAM its just the PL is very hard to adapt to its about 1 in 7 hit the ground running in the first season imo we cannot afford that we are no Chelsea/M/U ect and ease them in

      (Quote)

  12. I would take Rolans strike partner as well to be honest – Cheick Diabete, he’s a big strong target man.

Would be a good signing, but for that sort of money? If it’s true then I don’t get it. We are desparate for forwards, CBs and a winger. Either our budget is massive and this signing would change little, or this signing would blow a huge hole in our budget – meaning we either have a sub standard defense or sub standard front line next term? Unless we are going to sign him and recoup that money by selling the waste of space called Sissoko… That would be ideal…

  14. Sham – if we want to attract other players by showing we have ambition – that’s the kid we sign IMO mate. **** Thauvin, that’s the lad I want to see in

      (Quote)

  15. That would be a good move Shamrock, but are we allowed to comment on speculation 🙂

The Chile team has 3 players who were relegated from the PL – Vargas (joint tournament top scorer with 4 goals), Isla and Medel. Does it show how tough the PL is, could they not settle, or are they just mercenaries who took their money and went through the motions?

Makes you think that people might be jumping the gun with Cabella who was hardly given a chance by Pardew and then was coached by…

      (Quote)

  16. As I have said before, I watched 3 or 4 Marseilles games and didn’t notice Thauvin. Gignac and Ayew were excellent. Who knows though, Carr has supposedly been watching him for 2 or 3 years.

      (Quote)

  17. Shamrock: that story and the one about Rolan were by one of preferred media partners. I don’t know if that means anything.

      (Quote)

  18. Stuart: There’s nowt else to talk about. I have already vented my spleen about the about how we should have had our ducks in line and my Dr. has told me to change the subject (as has BrisV 🙂 ).

  19. Word on the street is that Rolan is ****…coz TAE hasn’t heard of him! 😆

      (Quote)

  20. I need to set my mood so just to clarify, we’re annoyed because our first signing may be some kid we’ve never heard of from Northampton but also annoyed that we’ve missed out on some kid we’ve never heard of from Racing Santander, Spain?…just wanted to be clear 😉

      (Quote)

  21. This Wijnaldum sounds hopeful, would be nice, 1 in 2, in terms of goals and assists from midfield, in 4 years at PSV. However, just to capture the mood of the moment, he will probably end up at Sunderland and create 3 assists in a 6-0 demolition of our beloved Toon the next time we hear anything of him.

I’m getting there, eh, Stu?! 😉

      (Quote)

  22. Not really, Lionel as there’s no history of Sunderland beating us to a player we want. You see I only go off the form book and history and you just throw wild, unfounded thoughts about.

But I have to say I believe we must be interested in him as too many journos are talking about him. But to be honest I just can’t see it. He’s a top class player and I think better teams than us will be interested.

      (Quote)

  23. Been Reading Wijnaldum to usAnd sissoko to Liverpool .i hope so Wijnaldum is a Much beter player just as big And stromg but with far more technical ability . Just cant imagine us getting Him .If we do then jan maat And krul must of really sold the place too HIM the Guy would be a juge signing

      (Quote)

  24. Would be really pleased to see Wijnaldum arrive at SJP. Don’t fancy Thauvin at all tbh.

      (Quote)

  25. @417 – that is the perfect scenario for me mate. Can’t stand Sissoko personally and if we can get a better player in whilst keeping our budget intact for strikers and defenders then great. That would be reason to applaud Charnley for sure, so long as he delivered on CBs and strikers still…

      (Quote)

  26. Apparently it’s the same old, same old that’s holding us back in the transfer market. Not wanting to pay good prices for good players and playing hard ball. Will it work? Not sure this year with the money floating about and also when going for better players other clubs go for them too. One journo said he can’t remember the club buying a player that another club were interested in too…

      (Quote)

  27. Jabba must be clapping his hand he didn’t buy last year exc rate was 1.16 to the pound its 1.40 to the pound now so get some money spent tight git,on the plus side it.keeps Richie in Spain another tight git ,coming owr here causing bother

      (Quote)

  28. Correct, ice. Last year a €15m player would have cost £12.7m and today it would cost us £10.5m!

      (Quote)

  29. STUART that’s one hell of a saving, and jabba still trying to get players on the cheap he beats the makers, mind I heard whispers this morning in the village for the ex local rag reporter now (the people) that two medicals booked for next week, maybe one is for that young kid,he couldn’t tell me for who?

      (Quote)

  30. Lee Ryder says we ahave been in talks with Wijnaldum’s representatives and are hopeful of a deal. That would be a pleasant surprise…

      (Quote)

  31. Not even credit where it is due, Stu. There are now restrictive parameters for our negativity, and i was trying so hard. I was, though, applying your general principle, that of us historically missing out on players because we take too long in negotiation and offer too little, thus Sunderland was the appropriate specific case in this example, as they are the ones also after Wijnaldum. Sunderland are the Real Sociedad of this particular transfer rumor. You missed your own point, it is hard working with you sometimes, Stu.

Oh well, back to type. It is actually quite fun cherry picking rumors, it can be a tremendously positive experience and quite liberating.

Come on Wijnaldum, son, sign on, mate. You’ll love it. The Toon awaits you.

      (Quote)

  32. STUART maybe that’s one of the the medicals that’s booked,or are we trying to kid ourselves

      (Quote)

  33. Dunno, Ice but in fairness to Ryder he gets a lot of stick but he seems to have good source in the club as he’s quite often on the ball about things like this. I do believe him when he says we have been talking to him. Whether we get him, who knows but it’s more positive than it was last week.

      (Quote)

  34. @ 426 A surprise to you, mate, it is exactly what i have been expecting and waiting patiently for. But, let’s not get too excited, yet. 😉

      (Quote)

  35. SHAM ime sick to death of sisso shouting his gob off he’s not as good as “he”thinks he is plus guys like that can unsettle other players at the club,we want players that want to wear the shirt not looking elsewhere all the time

      (Quote)

  36. ice ,spot on mate, he was kissing the bloody badge when he scored in the last game but seemingly can’t wait to get away 🙄 ****

      (Quote)

  37. Agreed Ice. If we get a decent offer, we should get rid. Bed not a great attacking player, is not a defensive player and not a great passer either – so don’t get the big reputation he has? Plus he’s inconsistent with a terrible attitude.

      (Quote)

  38. It’s clear he wants to go as that’s why these links come out and normally from the agent to drum up interest. I’d sell him too.

      (Quote)

  39. Serious question, though, would it be seen as a positive development if we sold Sissoko and got in Wijnaldum? Being captain of PSV, he would certainly seem to fit the “right character” box, or is it like for like in playing terms and thus no real progress?

      (Quote)

  40. I don’t know who Thauvin is, so I may be wildly wrong, but I just think of Cabella and worry that money could be better spent on a player more suited to the prem.
If it’s true that Liverpool have joined the race to sign Sissoko then that’s fantastic Imo. They are well know as having more money than sense and paying above the odds. If he is replaced with Winaldum then that would be awesome business.

      (Quote)

  41. LS of coarse its progress to get a player in that wants to come against a player that wants to be away plus I think we will get the better deal money wise
Its gone quiet on Tiote another I would ship out too

      (Quote)

  42. On the button there Ice:
Nowt wrong with a player being keen on a move to a so called big club if and when an offer comes in for them. But to be openly pushing for it and hawking yourself around whilst being contracted elsewhere is unprofessional and unpalatable.
I’ll not be sad to see him carted off to sit on a bench somewhere. Especially if Wijnaldum or the ilk come in to replace him.
Might as well be kissing the W*nga logo.
As Kim so eloquently put it….****

      (Quote)

  43. I agree, Icedog, i am just never quite sure how people see things here, progress quickly turns to despair.

I would agree about Tiote, as well as everything else he just isn’t good enough.

Christ, i really do hope we are now going to start building a passing team with, sorry to use their phrase, the right character. On that note, CP would be more than welcome to spend 10 million or whatever for Cabaye, another whose character is suspect. Definitely would not want him back, plus, in my opinion, he is overrated by himself and Pardew.

      (Quote)

  44. Wijnaldum is better than Sissoko so it would be an improvement in terms of the first team. Still need to improve the squad size though.

      (Quote)

  45. Wijnaldum and Colback could be a great centre mid/ defensive partnership. Sissoko never really seems to have a position, he’s not really a CM, not really a winger, not really a striker. He is inconsistent and not irreplaceable.

      (Quote)

  46. @ Stuart 442, agreed. Let’s bloody hope things are going to work out and that you will re-new your season ticket and you’ll get to enjoy St. James’ again. 😉 😀

      (Quote)

  47. I reckon it’s squad quality not size that needs addressing.
We had players to come in when needed, they just weren’t good enough to get the job done.
The inevitable eventuality of the sell big buy cheap policy.

      (Quote)

  48. If we get him I will nickname him Wijjy, lot less hassle than his proper moniker 😉

      (Quote)

  49. I am slowly beginning to think Rodgers and Liverpool are going to come unstuck again. With their investment they would be expecting to get CL, i reckon they will be way off. As Newcastle rise, like a phoenix, behind them. 😆

      (Quote)

  50. You yew – We were playing strikers on the wings, left wingers at full back, centre midfielders at full back and full backs at centre half last season!
