Will Jack Colback Be Missed? – What Do The Stats Say?

Jack Colback is out of today’s game against Blackburn Rovers due to injury, but just how much will ‘The Ginger Pirlo’ be missed?

Using statistics from squawka.com, it is time to draw a direct comparison between Jack Colback and his likely replacement and long term competitor for a starting position, Isaac Hayden.

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way, Hayden has scored this season, Colback is yet to do so.

However, with Newcastle having goal threats from all over the pitch this season, that may not be quite as vital as it once was, when splitting the two.

Colback has made a total of eleven appearances this season, while Hayden has made fifteen. Meaning that both have now featured in enough games to stake their claim.

Colback’s stats are as follows:

Goals: 0

Shot Accuracy (%): 0

Chances Created: 2

Average Pass Accuracy: 87%

Average Duels Won: 38%

Average Defensive Actions: 3

Total Defenive Errors: 1

Yellow Cards: 4

Red Cards: 0

Hayden’s however, seemingly far exceed Colback’s in almost every area. They are:

Goals: 1

Shot Accuracy (%): 22

Chances Created: 8

Average Pass Accuracy: 80%

Average Duels Won: 53%

Average Defensive Actions: 4

Total Defenive Errors: 0

Yellow Cards: 1

Red Cards: 0

However, while Hayden’s stats may seem more impressive, the key one could be their passing accuracy. Colback links up play well with Jonjo Shelvey, many of his passes are just simple ones to link play together.

Hayden will need to ensure that he does the same and is not wasteful with the ball, but his own passing accuracy is impressive and in, if truth be told, Colback should not be missed for today’s game too much.
