A round up of all of today’s news & gossip:

  • Newcastle United have announced that Jamaal Lascelles has won the club’s official player of the year award for 2017/18 – a well deserved moment for the NUFC skipper who’s been absolutely outstanding all season – Full story here. 
  • Speaking to Spanish radio station ‘Radio MARCA Tenerife’, Ayoze Perez has confirmed that he has ‘no plans’ to leave Newcastle United this summer, stating he’s ‘very comfortable’ on Tyneside and enjoying life in the Premier League – Full story here. 
  • Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has confirmed that it’s a ‘matter of time’ until Newcastle United announce the permanent signing of Martin Dubravka – easing any fears that a deal for the Slovakian was slipping through our fingers – Full story here. 
  •  Rafa Benitez has admitted that his relationship with Mike Ashley ‘isn’t as bad as people think’, reiterating that he’s only fighting for ‘the best’ at Newcastle United – just as he has at every other club he’s managed – Full story here. 
  • According to the Chronicle, NUFC will be ‘praying’ Fulham win Saturday’s play-off final, claiming the Cottagers should complete the signing of Aleksandar Mitrovic for ‘around £15m” this summer if they do so – a fee that seems too little to us – Full story here. 

  • According to Spanish reports, Athletic Bilbao and Real Betis are ‘expected to negotiate’ a deal to sign Mikel Merino  this summer, however there’s one big element of this story that doesn’t make sense – our alleged €10m asking price – Full story here.
  • Anderlecht have struck a ‘verbal agreement’ to sign Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels on a five year contract according to reports in Belgian, with the two clubs in ‘advanced negotiations’ over a permanent move – Full story here. 
  • According to the Chronicle, Rafa Benitez has prepared a 50-man list of potential striker targets this summer – highlighting just how much work he’s put into to ensure the club have a proven goalscorer next season – Full story here. 
  • Newcastle United have made an enquiry over the potential signing of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro this summer according to reports in Italy today – a player who could fit in perfectly at Rafa Benitez’s NUFC – See more here.
