Photos emerge of SJP makeover as work begins behind the scenes ahead of 2022/23 season

Since October, there has been a constant sense of excitement in and around St James’ Park, and with the new refurbishments inside the stadium, the owners are duly delivering on their promise to bring this club back from the dead.

Photos of some redecorations have recently emerged on social media, with new banners being hung up within the concourse and a lick of black and white paint on the walls – simple but classy touches from those at the top.

While many pundits might have you believe that supporters are demanding to sign Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo, it’s the small details that fans are appreciative of and will celebrate like a new signing.

Here’s a few changes that have been made within the stadium ahead of the 2022/23 season:

This comes after the removal of Sports Direct signs, renaming of Shearer’s Bar as well as relocating the legendary striker’s statue, proving that making small, meaningful – and fairly inexpensive – changes can go a long way.

While it may seem relatively insignificant to other clubs, it’s enough to lift the mood of our fanbase as a whole after years of neglect and allows us to finally be excited for the future.
