Lampard responds to Newcastle rumours and medical confirmed as another Mag nears move

Frank Lampard has issued a clear response to reports linking Newcastle United with a move for Everton’s Anthony Gordon, insisting the winger is “going nowhere.”

This comes after The Telegraph and Sky Sports revealed last week that we’d been in contact with the Toffees over a potential £35m deal.

Since then, he’s not only been handed the No.10 shirt at Goodison Park but also been backed by his manager this morning, who’s insisted the England U21 star is a huge part of their future plans.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that Ciaran Clark is undergoing a medical at Bramall Lane ahead of a season-long loan move, with this coming after Jeff Hendrick joined Reading yesterday.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live, he’s revealed that the centre-back ticks a lot of boxes for the South Yorkshire side and looks set to sign after they beat off competition for the 32-year-old.

Here’s what both managers have had to say today, starting with Lampard’s defiant response to those Gordon rumours:

Frank Lampard on reports linking Anthony Gordon with a move to Newcastle:

“He gives everything and is going nowhere.

“He is our player and we want to build with him.”

“You have to work hard to get the No.10 shirt and Anthony has earned it.

Paul Heckingbottom on Sheffield United’s move for Ciaran Clark:

“He’s played at international level, this league and the one above and also the fact he wanted to come here.

“We weren’t the only ones wanting to take him but he wanted to come to us and we say all the time how important that is. If we get that over the line it should be a good one for us.

“We’re looking to do something on loan, yeah. It’s not definite but hopefully it will be pretty soon,”

“That’s exactly where it’s at [medical]. We’re hopeful but we’re not going to talk about anything that’s not happened so we’ll wait but I’m expecting it.

“If we get it done I’ll talk like that. He’s experienced, he’s got promotions out of this league. Good in both boxes and gives us balance on the left hand side with Robbo. So it ticks a lot of boxes for us.”
