New name under consideration at NUFC as Toon eye move for 6ft 7′ Bundesliga striker – Report

As reported by The Mail, Newcastle are ‘considering’ making a move for VfB Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic should our attempts to sign Joao Pedro from Watford fall flat.

The forward, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, would arrive with an impressive record of 22 goals and 11 assists in 50 Bundesliga games despite his side narrowly avoiding relegation last year.

Standing at 6ft 7’, Kalajdzic would certainly add an aerial threat to our squad, along with Dan Burn (6ft 6’) and Sven Botman (6ft 4’), and with set-pieces and crosses coming in from Kieran Trippier, it could be a formula to success.

Similar to Burn, Sasa is a lot quicker than what his height suggests as well as being technically proficient and very comfortable dropping in between the lines and laying balls off to midfield runners – in the past, he has also even been an attacking midfielder.

The 25-year-old, who made his debut for the Austrian national team in 2020, also has no issues in playing in a high press and could be a very useful asset for an Eddie Howe team.

  1. Our attempts wouldn’t fail if we offer the clubs valuation 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I imagine if Stuggart value Sasa at £40m and we offer £20-25m that one fails too 🙄.

  2. Also the lad isn’t going to want to come & play second fiddle to Wilson before the WC this winter – he’s going to want game time ready to play for Austria. He’s 25 and will want to be the main man – he doesn’t fit the profile of what we are after.

If it’s a development player we want to cover Wilson – Pedro is that player. He’s only 20 and not yet in the National side, so whilst he’ll want first team football, it’s not essential. He fits the profile of what we’re after far better – pay the money and get him in imo.

  3. Now there’s aa sentence you don’t want to hear…..”The forward, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer…”

Aye – height – that’s what’s missing from our team! If only we had more taller players!

  4. With ALL of our efforts to sign attacking players failing very badly .

What makes us think we can suddenly become successful with only a short amount of time left,
and upping our bid to sign a forward who only scored 4 goals in 29 games is not what I call
    good practice.
If we cant sign forwards, get somebody in who can, as this situation will not change on its own.
