Dan Ashworth hoping to beat Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea to 20-year-old star – Report

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are interested in signing Moises Caicedo – the midfield sensation Dan Ashworth brought to Brighton almost two years ago.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all also keen to sign the Ecuadorean, who has heavily impressed in his 20 Premier League appearances, starting every game this season.

Ashworth signed the then 19-year-old from Independiente del Valle for around £4.5m and the 51-year-old will be hoping he can pull it off a second time, with the report stating that we see the holding midfielder as an alternative to summer target Youri Tielemans.

As the report states, Brighton could be willing to sell the their young star at the right price, however it’s thought they could demand a whopping £85m – a huge fee that would likely be out of our price range at the moment due to FFP restrictions.

With Eddie Howe keen to add a defensive midfielder to his squad in the coming months, Caicedo would be a brilliant addition, but it won’t be an easy deal to do if Brighton’s asking price is anywhere near what is being reported.
