Howe’s hidden reaction to 2-1 win as Toon boss clarifies Isak comments & Bruno concerns – Video

In an interview with beIN Sports, Eddie Howe has described our 2-1 win over Wolves as a ‘big three points’ to end a ‘difficult moment’ for the team, whilst clarifying concerns over Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes’ fitness.

After a run of three successive defeats and scoring just three league goals in 2023, we were in need of a big result and had to dig deep to secure the hard fought victory.

The Swedish striker opened the scoring in what Howe described as a ‘brilliant’ first half and continued to praise the ‘excellent’ Miguel Almiron for his determination and quality play to score the winner.

In terms of Isak being substituted, the boss has claimed that, while he may be fit to play 90 minutes for another Premier League team, he didn’t believe he is fit enough yet to play to the incredibly intense style that he demands.

The 45-year-old then confirmed that our Brazilian star Bruno is also ‘fit to play’ with ‘no injury’ despite some concerns about his mobility after struggling with an ankle issue in recent weeks.

Newcastle are now back up to fifth and just four points off Spurs with games in hand, but Howe was keen to add that we will be taking it one game at a time and trying to win each of our last 13 games of the season.
