New report reveals what Eddie Howe did in the 24hrs after 6-1 win vs Spurs – What a bloke

A brilliant piece has emerged from The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, revealing Eddie Howe’s brilliant reaction to our 6-1 win over Spurs on Sunday.

While others were celebrating the win, hitting the town or taking a well deserved break, it’s believed the Toon boss headed straight back home to watch the game back in full, then went through highlight packages of Everton – Thursday’s opponents – after putting his kids to bed.

Then, while others watched Match of the Day 2, he had an early night and headed to the club’s training ground shortly after 6am on Monday. After a workout with our strength and conditioning coach, Howe spent the ‘entire day’ breaking down Everton’s games, assessing their strengths and weaknesses ahead of our trip to Goodison Park. While our rivals rest and reset, Howe is already one step ahead.

It may not seem much, but these little things are what makes Howe so brilliant. He seems obsessed with Newcastle, obsessed with winning, determined to keep improving and relentless in his pursuit of a top-four finish.

After our cup final defeat, Howe said, “I certainly won’t rest for a second in my pursuit to improve Newcastle” and it sounds like he meant it. He lives and breathes football and feels like the perfect man for this exciting and ever-evolving project at Newcastle United.

Here’s a snippet from Luke Edwards’ latest piece on the 45-year-old:

‘As others headed into the city’s bars and nightclubs on Sunday night to celebrate an incredible performance and result, Howe headed home to watch the game against Spurs back in full – with his tea and his biscuits.

He will have helped put his excitable three kids to bed, but other than that, it was more work; more analysis; more thoughts about what comes next.

While others just about managed to stay up to watch Match of the Day 2 and headed into work or college with hangovers, feeling jaded on Monday morning, Howe had already tucked up in bed having absorbed a few highlights packages of Thursday night’s opponents Everton.

On Monday, he was up at 6am as usual. After a workout in the gym with Newcastle’s strength and conditioning coach, he spent almost the entire day analysing Everton’s games this season.’
