Premier League speedster ‘discussed’ in Toon transfer talks – The perfect summer signing?

As revealed by The Telegraph, Brighton winger Karou Mitoma is the latest name being ‘discussed’ at Newcastle United ahead of a huge summer window for the club.

The piece confirms our interest in a host of familiar names – previously linked stars such as James Maddison, Kieran Tierney and Declan Rice all feature – but this is the first time we’ve seen Mitoma mentioned following his breakthrough season at the Amex.

Not only is the pacey 25-year-old enjoying a very impressive campaign with the Seagulls, the ownership may also view him as an ideal signing to help grow the Newcastle brand over in Japan.

He would tick plenty of boxes, as he’s not only Premier League proven – he’s bagged 10 goals and seven assists so far this season – but would bring that blistering pace and quality in the final third to our attack.

This is would be the third time we would have poached someone from Brighton – both Dan Ashworth and Dan Burn left to join the Magpies while Moises Caicedo is believed to be on our radar.

That said, Mitoma certainly won’t come cheap. The south coast side are notoriously tough sellers and won’t want to lose all of their prise assets, with Alex Mac Allister already intent on leaving.
